He had a tremendous 2015 season for the Pride and was named to Baseball on the Island’s All-Long Island team. Offensively: He is a left-handed batter that employs a bat wag, with a slightly bent knees and a high back elbow. In the above above, you can see how he allows the ball to travel deep, he stays closed and has enough strength to muscle the ball over the third baseman’s head for an RBI single. He has very quick hands and finishes with both hands on the bat. He went 3-for-13 with six strikeouts in the season opening series against Texas A&M. Their pitchers were incredibly advanced and rarely challenge...
Player Name: Mat Anunziata School: Hofstra Position: LF Offensively: Mat is a power hitter that happens to hit leadoff due to the composition of the lineup. He is a rhythmic hitter that bats with an open stance, a high back elbow and slightly bent knees. He has quite a bit of movement with his hands and sways to lock himself into hitting position. None of this has any effect on his swing, he is able to get into a consistent hitting position when the pitcher is set. He has a short stride but has a very aggressive swing that produces some tremendous power. He has a strong base, and gets himself into a good power L position. He finishes with both hands on the bat. He put on some performances during batting practice. His power is definitely best when he hooks it down the right field line. His ...
Player Name: Alec Eisenberg School: Hofstra Position: RHP Alec is a senior at Hofstra University. He stands at 6’5″ 195 lbs, ideal build for a pitcher. He transferred there in 2015 after dominating at Westchester Community College and being named Region XV Pitcher of the Year as reward for positing 1.06 ERA. He struggled in 2015, posting a 5.83 ERA over 54 IP but winning five games. The following summer he pitched in the Cape Cod league for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox. He begins his windup with a slight step to the side before he enters his delivery. He keeps his eyes locked on the target. As he’s approaching the balance point, he bring his hands head-high, his leg kick is high and tight, with his back leg slightly bent. He never fully comes to a halt, he has his momentum...

He has quick hands, keeps his head down on the ball well and finishes with both hands on the bat. In the April 7 game, he went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a walk. All of his at bats were quality. In his first at bat, he swung at the first pitch and hit the ball well to the second baseman, which scored the runner from third base. In his next at bat (featured above), he worked the count to 2-2 before ...
Player Name: Dennis Buckstein School: Dowling Position: RHP Dennis is a 5’10 freshman pitcher that is a 2014 graduate of Sachem North HS. He was named League 2 Pitcher of the Year in his senior season and was All-County. He pitched exclusively from the stretch. He came to his set position with a stiff back leg and his hands set high. He has a very high leg kick–above the letters. His back leg is still bent at the balance point, and he keeps his eyes locked on the target through out the duration of the delivery. He kicks his leg out prior to beginning the falling action. He gets very good drive from his back leg. The arm circle is pretty short, but is creates lots of deception because it is tough to spot. The stride is good, but he lands with his front foot slightly closed. His ...
Player Name: Mike Jeannetti School: Dowling Position: RHP Mike is a pitcher without the typical build of a pitcher. He is generously listed at 5’10” 185 lbs. It does not matter because he uses every bit of his frame to generate power. He starts all the way from the third base side of the rubber. He steps back very minimally and towards first base as he prepares for the legkick. He keeps his eyes locked on the target the entire time. His leg kick is not very high, but it is balanced and he keeps his back leg bent to generate power. Jeannetti throws from a low 3/4 arm angle with near-max effort, which allows him to have a sharp slider when the release point is on. He finishes balanced and aimed at home plate. He recorded the nine-out save on March 11 against New Haven. He was mai...
Player Name: Andrew Sesto School: Adelphi University Position: RHP Andrew is a big-bodied pitcher–at 6’2″ 260 lbs, he is an imposing figure on the hill. He brings his hands down as a timing mechanism as he steps back during his delivery. He brings them all the way as he is entering the balance position. He keeps his eyes locked on the target the entire delivery. The legkick is slightly unique as he brings it up but kicks the foot out towards third base a little before coming up. The stride is normal and the landing is straight to homeplate. He finishes with good extension and balance, slightly falling off to the first base side. In his one inning of work against New Haven, he threw up a goose egg. Sesto worked mainly in the low 80s with his fastball. He struck out the fir...
Player Name: John Parisi School: Dowling College Position: RHP Player Name: John Parisi School: Dowling College Position: RHP John is a 6’3″ 200 lb pitcher for the Golden Lions. He begins his delivery with his glove up high, covering his eyes reminsicent of Andy Pettitte, but he then drops the glove all the way down once he steps back. As he is coming to his balance point, he hunches his torso over and has his eyes set on the ground. He soon regains his focus and locks in on the batter. He has a violent delivery, with a near max effort throwing style. He delivers from a 3/4 arm angle. He has a nice, long stride but lands slightly open towards first base. Parisi’s follow-through is sound and finishes balanced. In the March 11 game against New Haven he received the win for...
Player Name: Cody McPartland School: Dowling College Position: RHP McPartland possesses a big, 6’2″ 220-lb frame. He has a compact delivery and turns slightly towards center field to generate more torque, a la AJ Burnett. He was the runner-up for the Pitcher of the Year in the Hamptons League in 2014. With the graduation of their starting staff, the Golden Lions will look to McPartland to lead the way and match up against the opposition’s ace. He works mainly in the mid-to-upper 80s with his fastball. He did not use his breaking ball much in the March 11 start against New Haven, but it is a pitch he has quality feel for. When he was struggling with his fastball, he often reverted to the curveball to regain his rhythm. Despite allowing only one run in the start, McPartland...
Player Name: Rich Ciufo School: Pat-Med ’15, Brown ’20 Position: SS Rich is a 2015 graduate of Pat-Med. He is 5’11” 200 lbs. Offensively: Very solid approach at the plate. He stands with his leg slightly wider than shoulder width. He has his legs bent just a bit and keeps his back elbow up. He employs a toe tap as opposed to a leg kick. This limits the power potential but also enables him to have a balanced approach and not strikeout very often. He has very quick hands that allows him to wait that split second longer to read the pitch as it enters the hitting zone. The ball travels deep on him and he has his weight distributed directly down the center of his body so that he can drive the ball to all fields. His head is directly down on the ball and he gets good exte...

He has a high leg kick that is above letter height. At the balance point he has a firm back leg, his front foot is parallel to the ground and his eyes are locked on his target. He gets very good drive from his back side as he begins his falling action towards the plate. He has a very long arm circle with the ball pointing towards the right fielder. Hitters do prefer to see the ball at this stage which eliminates some of the deception. He has very good stride length and lands with his foot straight towards the plate. His arm angle is high 3/4, but he does have a very free and easy release which makes his delivery aesthet...

He keeps his back elbow up and employs a slight bat wag. He does not have an open or closed stance. He has a leg kick and is a front foot hitter–he falls forward prior to leg kick. In the July 7th game, he went 1-for-2 with two walks. His first at bat was a one-pitch groundout to third. It was a fastball on the inner half that he pounded into the ground. He walked on four pitches in his second at bat. The only pitch that was close was the second pitch that was a fastball just inches off the out...
