He brought in RHP Rob Milopsky (Rocky Point 2019) with runners on 1st & 2nd with 0 out in the 6th inning to protect a 4-3 lead after the previous four batters all reached base via hits to cut the lead to one-run. Milopsky came on and struck out the side in the sixth and cruised through the seventh inning with three ground outs. Milopsky stated that he knew when he came in with runners on he “needed to throw strikes to...

The Steel Select Falcons defeated the Long Island Jr. Ducks to win the 16u All-American Invitational behind a strong pitching performance from right hander, PJ Daniels. It seemed as if Daniels may be in for a rough start, after allowing a lead off double to the opposing pitcher, Jordan Goldstein. A sacrifice fly moved him over to third base. With one out, Daniels then proceeded to walk the following batter. He then escaped trouble by inducing an around the horn double play. The Falcons gave their pitcher some run support early on. After a quick first out, the next two batters walked. Cleanup hitter, Nicholas Capazzola then reached base on a fielder’s choice, which brought in Trevor Zanderzuk for the first run of the game. In the following inning, Daniels again looked to be in trouble, issu...

The Hitter’s Club Hawkeyes overcame a four-run deficit to defeat Team Steel, 9-5, on Thursday night. Evan Christopher started for the Hawkeyes and pitched without any major damage until the top of the 4th inning. Besides an unearned run in the top of third, Christopher had not conceded a run. He got into trouble with the game tied in the top of the 4th, however, has he started to have problems with his command. A bases loaded walk forced in a run and three straights hit followed. Christopher would be replaced, but the damage was done with Team Steel leading 5-1 after 3.5 innings. Hawkeyes head coach Kevin Haverbusch was not happy with his team’s defense, particularly in that inning, but was glad to see some mistakes from Team Steel to get his team back in the game. “We just had to take adv...
Elvis Zavala scored the first run and drove in the go ahead run in the Diamond Spikes 3-2 win over LIB Prime. pic.twitter.com/ONPdHl85ij — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 4, 2018 As the rain drops fell on the field of NYIT, pitchers on both squads were able to keep the hits to a minimum in the Diamond Spikes 3-2 victory over LIB Prime Lodato. While the rain was falling for the start of the game, it looked early on as if the rain will have a major effect on how the pitchers would perform. Both teams did not waste any time in putting an early run on the board and they did it in the same fashion. The scoring started in the top of the first inning for the LIB Prime. Nick Bell reached base on a walk and after he got to third base, a pass ball through the legs of the catcher resulted i...

The LI Elite 2020 South were set to face off against the LI Titans Molinaro in the 16U American division of the Boys of Summer on Thursday at 6 o’clock on Thursday evening. An hour prior to the planned start time, there was some doubt regarding whether or not the game would be played. From about 5:00 to 6:00, there was constant, heavy rainfall, with booming thunder as lightning constantly flashed across the sky. The sun soon emerged, and played its part in helping to dry up the field. At approximately 7 PM, the game finally started. Lorenzo Petraglia led off for the Elite, and he worked a lead off walk against Titans pitcher, Anthony Hernandez. Jason Labrador followed up with a single, putting Elite in a position to strike early. The following batter, Mike Sullivan, reached on a fielder’s ...
