LI Titans pitcher Nicholas Incalcaterra after his dominant performance. pic.twitter.com/fJKkAXkjbB — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) August 8, 2018 The Long Island Titans tallied their seventh win of the season Wednesday evening behind a dominant performance on the mound by Nicholas Incalcaterra. The Titans defeated Long Island Baseball, 4-1, in a game where LIB only had two runners make it to second base. Incalcaterra pitched six innings of one-run ball, struck out eight, and allowed only three hits. After Incalcaterra struck out the side in the top of the first inning, the Titans didn’t waste any time putting runs on the board. In the bottom half of the inning, Phillip Krpata ledoff with a line drive base hit up the middle. Krpata then stole both second and third base. Two batters l...
Our player of the game was Mike DeMarest. Mike came in to pitch in the second inning and provided five innings for the Lightning in their 7-3 win over NorEaster for the LICBL Championship. pic.twitter.com/tVoyuT6Rm5 — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) August 4, 2018 The Long Island Lightning took down the Long Island NorEasters by a score of 7-3 to take home the Long Island Collegiate Baseball League Championship Saturday afternoon. The Lightning had to overcome some early inning trouble to capture their victor. Starting pitcher George Rodriguez could only go a third of an inning after he allowed a hit and two walks to open the game. Troy Simpson had to come on in the first inning to get the Lightning out of the early jam and he struck out the next two batters to leave the bases loaded ...
The Long Island Lightning took a 1-0 series lead in the Long Island Collegiate Baseball League championship Thursday evening in a quite lopsided affair. The Lightning defeated the Long Island NorEasters 19-7. The Lightning wasted no time putting a run on the board. After starter Patrick Quinn held the NorEaster’s scoreless in the top of the first, the Lightning took a 1-0 lead in the bottom half of the inning. After leadoff hitter Joe Piscitelli popped out to first, two hitter Kyle Heiss roped a single up the middle. The next batter, Andrew Florides hit a tailor-made double play ball which was bobbled by the shortstop, allowing him to get to first and Heiss to advance to second. Both of them advanced a base after the next batter John Condon hit an opposite field single to left field. With ...
FINAL: For the first time in HCBL history, the Riverhead Tomcats are champions! @RHTomcats defeats @LIRoadWarriors 8-4 in game 3, winning the Championship Series 2-1. #LIvRH pic.twitter.com/AL13yo8JqQ — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) August 1, 2018 Prior to this season, six of the seven teams in the Hamptons Colligate Baseball League have won the league’s championship. On Wednesday afternoon, the Riverhead Tomcats completed the list of champions by capturing the title in game 3 of the Championship Series. John Galanoudis’ squad defeated the Long Island Road Warriors, 8-4, in the decisive game at Veterans Memorial Park. “It’s unbelievable that we finished this season the way we did,” Galanoudis said. “We have been through so much this season, but everyone here has gelled so well and w...
This one was about more than a game. “We dedicated this season to Josh…after each game we would sound off for him, 1..2..3..Josh,” said the Head Coach of the SSA Nationals in the moments following his team’s emotional victory in which they captured the Town of Brookhaven JV championship with a 5-0 shutout over LI Liberty Red. Mileto was a 16-year-old student at Sachem East HS whose life was tragically taken during a football practice nearly one year to the day (August 10th, 2017). He was also a baseball player that was a member of the Nationals since he was 11-years-old. He was well respected by his teammates and his coach noted how he came to each game “ready to play”, and was “never there to argue.” He was so adored his teammates dedicated ...
Our Player of the Game is Eric Roubal. The Queens College righty came up huge in today’s win-or-go-home game, going 3-for-5 at the plate with four RBIs, including a three-run home run. He spoke with our @jpaura24 postgame. #RHvLI pic.twitter.com/nq37sLVqiB — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 31, 2018 The Long Island Road Warriors are accustomed to success. In their inaugural season, Head Coach Neal Heaton and his squad won the HCBL Championship without losing one game in the playoffs. This postseason has gone a lot differently as the team dropped its first semifinal game against Westhampton and game 1 of the Championship Series to Riverhead. Just like in the semis, Long Island bounced back from a game 1 loss, defeating the Tomcats 11-10 at home. The two juggernauts play a winner-ta...
Our Player of the game between the Long Island Thunder and Long Island Lightning is Kyle Heiss of the Lightning. Heiss went 3-3 at the plate with a HR and two RBI to help the Lightning win 7-0 and advance to the LICBL Championship. pic.twitter.com/wlPo6VMpbS — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 31, 2018 Two of the better teams in the Long Island Collegiate Baseball League squared off Tuesday evening at Adelphi with a trip to the Championship game on the line. The Long Island Lightning came in as the higher seed over the Long Island Thunder in the LICBL National division, and that order would stand true as the Lightning took care of the Thunder in a 7-0 victory. For the Thunder, their best chance to put any runs on the board came early in this one as they had their leadoff batter, N...
Long Island Baseball was searching for their first win against Diamond Baseball Academy. Although they got things going early, scoring a run in the first inning, they were ultimately unable to come away with the victory, losing by a score of 5-1. Nick Cortes was on the mound for DBA, and it was a shaky first inning for him. He allowed a leadoff double to Joseph Apuzzo, who later came around to score on Michael Aplin’s single to right field. The following batter was then hit with a pitch, but was erased on a fielder’s choice, which left runners on the corners with two outs. Cortes came up with a big strikeout to escape any further damage. On the mound for LI Baseball was Mac Cooper, who got two quick outs. It all unraveled from there, as he gave up a triple to Nick Pinggera. The following b...
Valles slams the door on a combined one-hitter and the Thunder win 2-0. They will move on to the semifinals. pic.twitter.com/ov0UjIl1XS — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 31, 2018 The Long Island Thunder ousted the New York Redbirds 2-0 on Monday night to advance to the National Division finals of the Long Island Collegiate Baseball League. Kieran McLaughlin, a rising senior at Adelphi, started for the Thunder and faced the minimum through the first four innings. A one-out walk that was eliminated thanks to a double play was the only form of a threat the Redbirds could offer until the top of the fifth and by that time, they were already trailing by the games eventual final score, 2-0. The Thunder did their damage in the bottom of third off Redbird starter Jake Bannon, whose sol...
Our Player of the Game is Daniel ODonnell. The Riverhead starter lasted six innings and held a dangerous Long Island offense to just two runs. He spoke with @jpaura24 after his clutch performance. pic.twitter.com/x0ykbkLhKR — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 30, 2018 One month ago, Daniel O’Donnell was not a member of the Riverhead Tomcats. He pitched only two games during the regular season before his first playoff start in game 1 of the HCBL Championship Series. The Lesley senior rose to the challenge and earned the win as the top-seeded Riverhead Tomcats defeated the Long Island Road Warriors, 8-2. Long Island’s offense seemed to be a problem in the beginning of this game. In their three-game series against Westhampton in the semis, the Road Warriors averaged seven runs p...
Joe Pizzingrillo talks about his six shutout innings in the Nor’easters 9-0 victory in the LICBL playoffs pic.twitter.com/vzMfDHGPDY — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 30, 2018 With the bases loaded in the second inning and one run already in, Will Guteknust lofted a fly ball to deep left field. The left fielder turned tails and made an attempt to make a great play, but it landed just beyond his reach and rolled to the fence. With two outs, all three runners came around to score and with Guteknust’s speed, he was able to dive safely in to third base. The triple was the biggest hit of the game, opening up a 4-0 lead for the LI Nor’Easters which was more than enough for their starting pitcher, Joe Pizzingrillo. The RHP fired six shutout innings, allowing just three...
