Pitching Leads WEST Warriors to Tournament Title

Led by their outstanding starting pitchers, who combined to allow only five total earned runs in four games, WEST Warriors 11U won the Championship at the 2024 Long Island Memorial Day Gold Glove Invitational in Central Islip, NY. To win the title game, the top-seeded Warriors struck twice in the first inning and never looked back, behind a dominant pitching performance by Dominic Lipari, beating second seed New York Empire 11u National 4-2. Lipari surrendered only 5 hits in a six-inning complete game victory, allowing just one earned run, which came in the fourth inning. Lipari struck-out three and didn’t walk a batter. The Longhorns used a six-run outburst in the fourth inning to push themselves to victory.  The tone was set early when Joe “Moose” Agostino plated Gabe Hirschorn with a well-placed grounder. They both became 11u Co-Champions of the Memorial Day Clash for ECYB after a 3-3 draw in the 5th inning. The Dream Chasers came out strong in the first two innings and poured on the pressure with three runs in the first three innings of the game. For a game that lasted just four innings due to time constraints, there was no shortage of offense. The teams combined to steal 31 bases, 18 for the Junior Ducks and 13 for the Mayhem.
