by Ethan Berch ANTONIO LARI DELIVERS!! WALK OFF HOMERUN WINS IT AND SENDS TEAM FRANSICO INTO THE PLAYOFFS! pic.twitter.com/sahJx5El3y — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) October 31, 2020 Halloween Day and early morning baseball sounds as sweet as candy! It was as cold as it gets for an October morning here at Allen Park in Farmingdale. The 9u Farmingdale Greendogs took on New York Longhorns-Black in an East Coast matchup. The winner of this game would presumably clinch a spot in next week’s playoffs! Antonio Lari got the nod for the Longhorns. Lari was a big kid who threw the ball with high velocity. Little-to-no kids were able to catch up with his fastball. The Greendogs struck first in the top of the first inning after three straight walks and hit batsmen. However, Lari struck o...

Jr. Ducks took game one, 10-3, before Yeti Baseball bounced back in the second game with a 3-2 win. Following the games, coach Tyler Loft had the following to say: “the whole season we been a second game double header team and we talked about it after the game just now and we have to show up earlier for pregame to get our mind set right before the first game to figure it out. I told them that we are better than we showed right there and in the second game we were”. When discussing the job of the starting pitcher in Game 2, Loft said, “Zach Marsh was unbelievable this game, he ate up innings for most of the summer...
By Ethan Berch That’s the game!! The CN Rebels win it 5-2! pic.twitter.com/68YNi0YuBx — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) October 24, 2020 More action all weekend long at Cantiague Park! This edition features the LI Storm taking on the CN Rebels in a league play battle. Even at such a young age, baseball never fails to excite! Bryce Boccio got the start for the Storm and he was excellent. Bryce commanded the strike zone and dealt a very nice game. One of the two runs he did give up came in the first inning on a passed ball which sent home the game’s first run. In the second inning, the final run he gave up came on an RBI groundout which had the Rebels leading 2-0. Jake Juliano got the start for the CN Rebels. Jake worked with a lead early but caught himself in trouble in the thir...
By Andrew Connors EastEnd Aviators winning pitcher John Schneider talks about his performance and what he plans on doing in order to keep elevating his level of play. pic.twitter.com/2wWYFvY2nm — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) October 24, 2020 They say that stars come out and perform best under the bright lights, and that was certainly the case in Friday night’s 16U matchup between the East End Aviators and the Long Island Empire. Despite some early scoring, it was evident after the first couple of innings that there wasn’t going to be much offense produced from either lineup, so it was on the pitchers and defense to step their games up. Danny DeBruin was on the mound to start the game for the Empire and he looked very sharp out of the gates. He racked up a pair of strikeouts and ret...
Axcess Reporter Ethan Berch (@eberch5) speaks with the Ducks head coach following their 2-0 win! pic.twitter.com/6M4ghK7Mqt — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) October 23, 2020 There is something about baseball under the lights and Friday night that goes together just way too good. Here at Cantiague Park, the 10u LI Jr. Ducks took on the 10u Farmingdale Greendogs. This may have been a low-scoring one, but just as exciting as it gets. Colin Johnson got the start for the Ducks. The right handed pitcher came out with a fastball-curveball combination which was nasty. He forced a lot of groundouts and ended the first inning with a strikeout leaving a runner at third base. Aiden Simonetti was the starter for the Greendogs. Aiden threw hard and kept plenty of the Ducks hitters off balance. The...
Here’s the walk-off by Nick Roselli in the bottom of the 9th for the 1-0 victory. One of the best games you’ll see pic.twitter.com/UUivIBcKTd — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) October 19, 2020 Ho-ly smokes. What a game! The Long Island Titans-Quattrini outlasted Junior Ducks-Caputo in a classic victory, 1-0, in 9 innings to capture the 18U Northeast Elite tournament at Baseball Heaven. The game featured two brilliant arms, RHP Tommy Ventimiglia (Longwood 2021) and Brendan Williams (West Hempstead 2021) at their absolute best and not giving an inch. The game had the feel of a fall classic with each team’s ace leaving everything on the mound and it was truly inspiring to watch. Ventimiglia wound up striking out a career-high 17 batters over 9 innings, while Williams ...
Ryan Appell singles and NexGen Elite ties it up 2-2 in the third pic.twitter.com/wi5NO5fd1a — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) October 17, 2020 The early morning time slots in tournaments – especially when the temperature in the 40s – means pitching and sluggish offense. That was not the case today as the Northeast Elite 18u kicked off between Beast 2022 and NexGen Elite. The teams battled back-and-forth but ultimately it ended in a 6-6 tie as the game reached the time limit. The pitching match up was Christian Antonopoulos (Manhasset 2022) for Beast against Michael DeFilippo (Connetquot 2021) of NexGen Elite. Both teams went scoreless in the first inning. The scoring got going in the bottom of the second against DeFilippo with two outs and nobody on. Army-commit Nolan Nawr...
Final: LI Storm 1, ECL Jacks 0 WP: John Dezago (1-hit, 10-K shutout) pic.twitter.com/dVRDHTtQIG — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) October 17, 2020 The northeast is notorious for great pitching and cold weather and that was on display on a brisk Saturday, October afternoon. Uncommitted RHP John Dezago was outstanding all day, firing a 10-strikeout, one-hit shutout in a 1-0 victory for the LI Storm over the East Coast Lumberjacks in the 18U Northeast Elite. The lone hit that the Xaverian senior allowed was on a leadoff double in the fourth inning by Damian Amancio but he was erased as he tried to stretch it into a triple. It was an ill-advised decision to start the inning, but it did require a near perfect relay which is exactly what the Storm was able to execute. The only other threat ...
pic.twitter.com/LwdQ3C7LvN — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) October 14, 2020 The Lions Baseball offense came alive on Wednesday night in a LI Boys of Summer match up. They were able to get offense from their whole lineup. After the game, Lions Baseball pitcher Alex Czarnomski was asked about the performance of his teammates and he said, “We battled with good at-bats and got a lot of walks and got base runners on and good things will happen”. When asked how he was able to pitch in the middle of the game and shut the other team down, Alex said “I was just trying to throw strikes. My fastball was working and I decided to stay with my fastball. My defense did a good job behind me tonight”. The North Shore pitcher got the first out of the game but quickly ran into trouble. Bobby Marsh hi...
by Ethan Berch Axcess Reporter Ethan Berch speaks with the winning pitcher Anthony Bulla following his nasty performance! pic.twitter.com/nsJmdJHMQJ — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) October 11, 2020 Columbus Day Weekend is rolling right through as baseball competition just gets better and better! This edition features the Varsity level LI Titans taking on the Batting 1.000 Seminoles at Eisenhower Park. It was a windy one but the sun made an appearance as this game went on. Anthony Bulla got the start for the Titans and he was very good all morning. There was only one run throughout the first two innings as Bulla did his job. Shaun Joyce got it started for the Noles with an RBI double. Although he wasn’t overpowering, Bulla pitched to contact and even added a bunch of strikeouts...
Vin Juliano pitched five innings and recorded the win pic.twitter.com/19WUYH3yiy — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) October 10, 2020 Baseball is a team game but sometimes all it takes is one or two players to carry the team on their backs. On this afternoon, it was the bat of TJ Meizoso and the arm of Vin Juliano that was the driving force behind a 9-5 victory for the CN Rebels over the Massapequa Cyclones in a 10u Columbus Day Tournament game. Juliano pitched five innings, also drove in a run at the plate, and Meizoso drove in five runs at the plate – including a three-run shot in the first inning to open up a 5-0 lead in which they would not relinquish. Juliano worked around a leadoff single in the top of the first inning by Danny Fregara to throw a scoreless inning. His offens...
