David Glancy absolutely crushed a go-ahead 2-R HR to give St. John’s a 3-1 lead in the fifth pic.twitter.com/pPDDnOayo9 — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) February 28, 2021 Well that’s about as good as St. John’s could’ve hoped to begin the 2021 season. The Johnnies swept UMASS-Lowell this weekend by the scores of 2-1, 11-3 and 3-1. On Sunday, it was a far cry from Saturday’s slug fest, but they did use the power of redshirt freshman David Glancy to another victory. The powerful New Jersey-native stepped up with the game tied 1-1 in the fifth and absolutely destroyed one to left field to give the Red Storm a 3-1 lead and fire up his teammates. He looks to be a force in the BIG EAST for the next four years – having hit an impressive .423 during the ab...
Opening Day in the northeast ⚾️ ❄️ pic.twitter.com/3nxtFF8UMl — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) February 26, 2021 Well, it’s not Port St. Lucie but Joe Nathan Field was the site for Stony Brook’s Opening Day in 2021. The Seawolves were slated to face the University of Michigan this weekend to kick off the season but obviously COVID was having none of that. Matt Senk‘s squad opened up at home in February for the first time in school history. They were able to capture both ends of a DH against Sacred Heart University by the scores of 1-0 and 7-1. Pitching was lights-out in both games, but they put their foot on the gas pedal from the start in the second game. Coach Senk thanked coach Tyler Kavanaugh following the game for having his pitchers prepared to go 80-85 pitche...
Rob Weissheier CRUSHES a go-ahead 2-R HR to left and Hofstra takes a 3-2 lead in the seventh pic.twitter.com/yCH76mkziI — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) February 21, 2021 When I saw Hofstra‘s schedule updated to include a season opening DH against Seton Hall on 2/21, I immediately changed my plans. Nevermind that it was a 2 hr, 15 minute drive to the game and the weather was flirting with below freezing. So with a 12pm start in South Orange, NJ I hopped in the car and made the drive and arrived just after first pitch. Game 1 Hofstra came out of the gates firing, scoring two runs in the top of the first on a wild pitch that scored Austin Gauthier, who led off the game with a double, and on a sac fly from Brian Goulard that scored Anthony D’Onofrio. It appeared the Pride wo...

You go from sweating and playing baseball in the burning hot weather, to freezing cold early morning and late night games. Having success in the fall is a whole other story. Finally here in mid-November, the fall season is coming to an end. At Brentwood State Park, the South Shore Elite took on the LI Storm in a 12u Boys of Summer Championship game! Joe Farina got the start on the big stage for the Elite and was nothing short of electric. After surrendering a leadoff single, he struck out three batt...
by Andrew Connors That’s the ballgame! The Seminoles are your 10u Champions!! pic.twitter.com/zRRuzlEiJx — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) November 8, 2020 Mother Nature must have known there were championship games on Sunday, as the temperature was near the 70s for most of the day. However, the Seminoles’ bats may have been even hotter as they put up a whopping 13 runs in 6 innings against the FS Tigers. Brody Kennedy was the starting pitcher for the Seminoles, and it turned out that he was the only pitcher for the Noles as he threw a complete game. Kennedy was settled in and rolling early on in the game, but the Tigers jumped on him when the third inning rolled around. He allowed three runs in the third inning, but these would be the only runs that Kennedy allowed all night. When al...

Anyone in attendance for this championship game was in for a real treat, as it was a back-and-forth battle throughout the entirety of the game. Brian Bower started the game on the mound for the Black Diamonds and he put in a very strong performance, giving his team a complete game. Through his 7 innings of work, Bower struck out four Storm batters and walked four as well. His defense played a good game behind him, w...

Here at MacArthur Highschool, the 12u LI Titans faced off against the South Shore Elite in a league matchup. This age group will continue play until next weekend before finishing up their fall season. Joe Farina got the start for the Elite. Joe is built strong and throws the ball with great velocity at such a young age. Titans hitters struggled to even catch up to fastball and he didn’t even allow a single hit until the fourth inning. Southpaw Logan Vogel was the starter for the Titans. Loga...

It was two distinctly different games. They won 7-6 in 9 innings over LI Elite Natale and then 2-0 over Tri-State Arsenal in the championship. Knapp threw the final inning in relief to slam the door in the semifinals and cruised to a 3-hit, 11 K shutout in the finals. “I felt good, man, my arm felt good. I came out in the semifinal closing the game – just felt really good out there,” said Knapp, a junior at Di...

The Boys of Summer College Championship may have agreed with that statement! The East End Aviators, representing majority of Suffolk Community College baseball players and Team Steel representing majority Farmingdale State College players went head-to-head at Brentwood State park. Coming off a dramatic win just minutes before, the Aviators came in with serious momentum after clobbering a walk-off homerun. They threw Ray Hoffman to start this game. by Andrew Connors (Editor’s Note: This is a game recap of the semifinal game, they went on to defeat Beast Crimson in the finals, 4-3) Jace Alvino talks with us about the display of power he put on tonight. pic.twitter.com/23yg055lFe — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) November 3, 2020 On a frigid November night of baseball, Team Francisco’s bats provided the heat in their 13-4 victory over the Steel Crimson. While both teams jumped on the scoreboard early, the Steel Crimson simply couldn’t slow down or keep up with Team Francisco’s high-powered offense. Tommy O’Neill was the starting pitcher for Team Francisco. Despite a rough first inning for O’Neill, he finished his outing with five strikeouts, four walks and only one earned run through three innings of work. He did a good job ...

After the game, the LIB Costanzo’s Head Coach had this to say, “We have been getting a lot better offensively this season, the pitching kept us in the second game. Michael Duda and Michael Mollica both pitched good for us today. We had a couple of timely hits that helped us out and it was just a good double header”. When discussing the slow starts in both games the Head Coach said “All season we are a second half game kind of team. Once our top of our order sees a couple of pitches, they time the ball up bet...
