The first game of the DH they played was close but at the end it would be the Titans taking it by a score of 3-1 but the second game is what was even more exciting and thrilling to watch. The Hamptons League is no different as they put them both in one day and let the fun roll out. To start the day, the HR Derby was won by Steve Luttazi who went from the bottom of the board with 3 HR’s in the first round to finding his stroke in the 2nd round. In that 2nd round, Luttazi would blast 7 homers to win him the derby. After that, the players got 4 hours to chill out with their friends, eat food off the grill, take a BP and IO. This game showcased some pretty good action from both sides and showed off both good pitching and good hitting At the end of the game it would be the LI Red Dogs who would take home the win by the score of 9-3. It was a year to remember for Fordham LHP Matt Mikulski. The flame throwing lefty achieved just about every individual accolade possible – from single-season and program strikeout record holder, to Atlantic-10 Pitcher of the Year, to All-American to being a semifinalist for the coveted Dick Howser Award. The numbers jump off the page – 9-0 record, 1.45 ERA, 124 strikeouts, .127 AVG. It was only fitting that he capped it off by hearing his name called in the 2021 MLB Draft. Plainedge was home to the 14u game between the LI Thunder and Dodger Nation. This game was between two friendly teams as most of the guys between the two teams have played together before so the atmosphere was all good vibes on that baseball field. South Shore Chiefs Sweep DH Over Franklin Square Tigers
by Aaron Rothschild Early Sunday Morning the South Shore Chiefs and the Franklin Square Tigers would face off in a double header filled with high level baseball from the two 11u teams in Massapequa. The Chiefs would sweep the double header with scores of 5-1 and 15-2. Game one of the double header was headlined by some great pitching by both teams. Tyler Baktis would get the start for the Chiefs and he was fantastic. In the top of the first he would work around a walk and a HBP to maintain a scoreless first. New York Longhorns and Jr. Ducks Split DH
by Ben Diamond Game 1: The talk of game one was the offense for both teams. The LI Jr Ducks scored first in the first inning on an RBI single by Christian Valenti. But the Longhorns struck back right away later in the inning putting up three runs on a 3-run home run by Cole Paulsen. The Ducks would end up coming back from the small deficit, and the two teams would go back and forth until the 5th inning, when the Ducks would break the game open. 3 RBI’s coming from Nolan Carnaccio, and a huge grand slam off the bat of Jayden Robinson gave the Ducks the lead they would not give up. Although in the bottom of the 6th, the Longhorns did put up a fight. by Nicholas Cipolla Game 1: Patrick Sanchez showed everyone his best Derek Jeter impersonation today, as he always seemed to come through in key moments during both games today Game one of a double header between LIB Neptune and the East End Aviators seemed like it was going to be an all-out battle of the pitchers. As the game progressed, the higher the odds of a tie due to the two hour time limit got. For the Aviators, Roy Hoffman was cruising for his first four innings of work. He only allowed 3 total base runners throughout four innings (two hits and a walk) and had three strikeouts to go with it.
