by Gabe Zoda Got to speak with Brayden Soutar after the game after his 1-2 1RBI day at the plate and his 6 2/3IP, 4Ks day on the mound. pic.twitter.com/J5dwxR3bpN — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 21, 2021 If there was a definition of what a humid summer day feels like, this double header would be exactly it. LI Boys of Summer had some 15u action yesterday between the Body Armor Titans and LIB Vexxum. The first game of the DH they played was close but at the end it would be the Titans taking it by a score of 3-1 but the second game is what was even more exciting and thrilling to watch. That second game would end in a 2-2 tie but without a couple of crucial performances from a couple of players , that tie wouldn’t have happened. After winning the first game, the Body Armor Tita...
by Nicholas Cipolla Game 1: Patrick Sanchez makes it 7-0 LIB Neptune with an RBI single to left. pic.twitter.com/LZiT5kCLNc — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 18, 2021 The LIB Neptune proved that they are the team to beat in the Boys of Summer Perfect Game league. This was yet another dominant showing from LIB Neptune, as they continued their winning ways in game 1. The offense attacked early and often, starting in the first inning. Following a single from Jaden Rivera and a double off the wall from Jayson Rodopolous, College of Charleston commit Patrick Sanchez knocked in the first run of the game with a sacrifice fly. In the second inning, Anthony Pandolfi showed off a bit of his power as he hit a two run home run that landed way over the left field fence making the score 3-0 in...
by Gabe Zoda FINAL: Team Gold 17, Team Red 5. We Spoke with ASG MVP Chad Pike after his 3-5, 1HR, 5RBI performance today. pic.twitter.com/SQZfbvR95L — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 18, 2021 There is never a more fun atmosphere than that of the All Star Game and HR Derby. The Hamptons League is no different as they put them both in one day and let the fun roll out. To start the day, the HR Derby was won by Steve Luttazi who went from the bottom of the board with 3 HR’s in the first round to finding his stroke in the 2nd round. In that 2nd round, Luttazi would blast 7 homers to win him the derby. After that, the players got 4 hours to chill out with their friends, eat food off the grill, take a BP and IO. At 7 o’ clock, the ASG would start. This ASG would have a total of 2...
by Gabe Zoda WALK OFF FINISH. Jake Beringer wins it for the Nassau Bolts after this 2R Walk off single to the opposite field. The Bolts take this one 5-4. pic.twitter.com/KMoQs9Tpz9 — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 14, 2021 One of the absolute facts about baseball is that the game isn’t over until the last out is recorded. This fact proves itself to be vital over and over again and at Baseball Heaven, this showed up again. In the 16u Division the Nassau Bolts took on Team Parisi in the LI Boys of Summer. The Bolts came into today undefeated and looked to continue their dominance while on the other hand, Team Parisi came in 2-1. Team Parisi had just come off a big 12-0 win against the B1000 Seminoles and looked to use that to fuel them in this one. The game would end with a ver...
by Gabe Zoda We spoke with Marcus Harrison after his perfomance on the mound and at the plate. pic.twitter.com/MSzKL7tSuY — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 13, 2021 The PAL Complex was home to some more LI Boys of Summer action as on the 13th, the LI Red Dogs took on the Tri State Arsenal in a single game. This game showcased some pretty good action from both sides and showed off both good pitching and good hitting At the end of the game it would be the LI Red Dogs who would take home the win by the score of 9-3. In this game they would get hot on the offensive side and never look back. Their pitching was able to shut the door in clutch spots and hold the Arsenal at bay at key spots as well. The first runs came in the top of the first from the Red Dogs. They would score 2 in th...
It was a year to remember for Fordham LHP Matt Mikulski. The flame throwing lefty achieved just about every individual accolade possible – from single-season and program strikeout record holder, to Atlantic-10 Pitcher of the Year, to All-American to being a semifinalist for the coveted Dick Howser Award. The numbers jump off the page – 9-0 record, 1.45 ERA, 124 strikeouts, .127 AVG. It was only fitting that he capped it off by hearing his name called in the 2021 MLB Draft. While there was an outside chance he would go in the first round, ultimately he was selected in the second round (50th overall) by the San Francisco Giants. Mikulski was a part of Fordham’s 2019 historic season in which they captured the Atlantic-10 Championship and set a program record for single seaso...
by Gabe Zoda After the game, we were able to chat with WP Nick Williams (4IP, 4Ks, 1BB) for the LI Thunder. pic.twitter.com/2g9mhEBLUO — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 11, 2021 Sunday held some more LI Boys of Summer DH action. Plainedge was home to the 14u game between the LI Thunder and Dodger Nation. This game was between two friendly teams as most of the guys between the two teams have played together before so the atmosphere was all good vibes on that baseball field. Unfortunately one team had to lose in these games and it was shown pretty early who that team would be. At the end of the day, the LI Thunder would win both games of the DH. The first game ended in a run-rule through 5 innings. The final score of that game was 13-2. In the second game the score would be a ...
by Aaron Rothschild Ryan Buderman on the double header sweep pic.twitter.com/HnKF2bsQbo — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 10, 2021 It is always a treat to be able to watch good baseball at any level, but it is especially rewarding when the athletes are just eight to nine years old and play well above their age. The LI Titans Buderman would sweep the double header from Team Beast Black by scores of 7-6, and 12-2. The game started with a 1-2-3 inning that induced a ground out as well as two strikeouts for starter Brody S. The Titans would come to bat in the bottom of the inning where Joey F. would make it onto third but would be left stranded after a strikeout from Team Beast Starter Simon Morris. In the second Brayden Bjornson would strike a one out double and would steal a bas...
by Aaron Rothschild Early Sunday Morning the South Shore Chiefs and the Franklin Square Tigers would face off in a double header filled with high level baseball from the two 11u teams in Massapequa. The Chiefs would sweep the double header with scores of 5-1 and 15-2. Game one of the double header was headlined by some great pitching by both teams. Tyler Baktis would get the start for the Chiefs and he was fantastic. In the top of the first he would work around a walk and a HBP to maintain a scoreless first. The Chiefs would then come up to bat and come out hot, a leadoff single by Aiden Van Nostrand followed by two stolen bases would be followed by a pickoff gone wrong at third resulting in a run. Jack Mulligan would drive in the second run of the game on a ground out to second, and an i...
by Gabe Zoda WALK OFF WIN. The Bonnie Rockets send it home in the bottom of the 7th with this BOMB from Willie King. F: Bonnies 3, East End Aviators 2. pic.twitter.com/Y61T17Sgvr — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 10, 2021 In the 16u division for LI Boys of Summer, the East End Aviators took on the Bonnie Rockets in a Double Header at the PAL complex. Both of these games went down to the wire and both teams showed how evenly matched they truly are in these games. They would end up splitting the games in the DH. In the first game, the Aviators would take it by the score of 4-3. In the second game the Bonnies would take it by a score of 2-1. To start off the first game, The Aviators would send out Hayden Preston to the hill. He would end up being the winning pitcher of the game ...
by Ben Diamond Game 1: The talk of game one was the offense for both teams. The LI Jr Ducks scored first in the first inning on an RBI single by Christian Valenti. But the Longhorns struck back right away later in the inning putting up three runs on a 3-run home run by Cole Paulsen. The Ducks would end up coming back from the small deficit, and the two teams would go back and forth until the 5th inning, when the Ducks would break the game open. 3 RBI’s coming from Nolan Carnaccio, and a huge grand slam off the bat of Jayden Robinson gave the Ducks the lead they would not give up. Although in the bottom of the 6th, the Longhorns did put up a fight. Down 14-6 in their final chance to bat, the Longhorns put up 4 runs and left the bases loaded, ending the game at a much closer 14-10. The pitch...
by Nicholas Cipolla Game 1: Patrick Sanchez showed everyone his best Derek Jeter impersonation today, as he always seemed to come through in key moments during both games today Game one of a double header between LIB Neptune and the East End Aviators seemed like it was going to be an all-out battle of the pitchers. As the game progressed, the higher the odds of a tie due to the two hour time limit got. For the Aviators, Roy Hoffman was cruising for his first four innings of work. He only allowed 3 total base runners throughout four innings (two hits and a walk) and had three strikeouts to go with it. He also was getting some help from the Aviators defense as Hoffman was producing plenty of routine ground balls and fly balls for his fielders. LIB Neptune had many opportunities to score but ...
