They really buy-in, they’re a great group of kids and they responded,” he added. They came away with a 10-3 victory on the road in a game that was mostly decided by the second inning. Th...
Kyle Rosenberg on his 11 K performance in Wheatley’s huge 3-2 win over previously undefeated Oyster Bay pic.twitter.com/KH0YBA8ZfD — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) April 11, 2022 A battle of the unbeatens. Two 6-0 Nassau Class B teams went head-to-head on Monday afternoon with the reigning champs, Wheatley, coming away with a 3-2 victory in a very well-played game behind Kyle Rosenberg‘s 10 strikeout, 6.1 IP outing and some clutch-hitting by a player in his first varsity game. Rosenberg has been Wheatley’s ace for the past 1+ seasons but he was facing a tough opponent, New Haven-commit Michael Gatti, who entered the game with a 2-0 record, 0.00 ERA and 23 strikeouts over 10 innings. The Wildcats of Wheatley got out to a quick 1-0 lead thanks to some good fortune. Af...
By: Daniel Lopes Roslyn Bulldogs coach Jared Kanover speaks after Roslyn’s pair of wins on Saturday. pic.twitter.com/MG6M05Q24n — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) April 9, 2022 The Roslyn Bulldogs and Long Island Storm got together on Saturday for a doubleheader, with Roslyn coming out on top in both games with scores of 10-8 and 9-7. The two teams battled through harsh elements at Eisenhower Park, as there were multiple weather delays, including a delay for a brief shower of hail. The Storm got on the board first in game one on a rally that started with a single from Vincent Sartorelli. He moved to third base after a single from Gunnar Nelson and a walk from Antonio Impennato, and he scored on an RBI groundout from Peter Hamilton. Roslyn set an aggressive tone on the base paths, scori...
By: Daniel Lopes MacArthur head coach Steve Costello speaks after MacArthur gets a 2-0 victory over Mepham. pic.twitter.com/lhR0PjPFFb — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) April 8, 2022 It was a pitcher’s duel throughout the game between MacArthur and Mepham on Friday, as both starting pitchers went the distance for their respective teams. However, it was Matt Sarni and MacArthur who came out on top, 2-0. Sarni was dominant for MacArthur, pitching a complete game, one-hit shutout, striking out seven batters and only allowing one walk. Despite the great pitching, both teams had chances early on to get their team in the runs column. In the bottom of the first inning, Sebastian Loor hit a two-out double to give MacArthur a runner in scoring position. However, he didn’t score, as Ryan...
Ward Melville catcher Tom Ribaudo following his late game heroics in the 4-2 victory over Commack pic.twitter.com/JGicHCGMmL — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) April 5, 2022 When Commack and Ward Melville square off, there is guaranteed to be some sort of dramatic finish. We’ve seen it time-and-time again, most notably that 2019 semifinals matchup at Ward Melville. This game did not feature nearly as much offense or ejections, but there was an exciting finish with an exclamation point from the captain. Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning against reliever Matt Mayer, Ward Melville captain Tom Ribaudo stepped to the plate after a 4-6-3 double play briefly took some of the life out of the home faithful. A walk drawn by Rob Looney flipped the lineup and brought up Ribaudo....
Postgame interview with Shoreham-Wading River RHP Billy Steele who fired 6 no-hit innings in a 4-1 win pic.twitter.com/dzwO45Ztze — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) April 4, 2022 Shoreham-Wading River has grown accustomed to no-hitters over the past several years. Between Brian Morrell‘s record-setting six no-hitters in 2016-’17 and then Aidan Crowley‘s back-to-back-to-back no-hitters in 2019, maybe there isn’t the same allure there once was. Billy Steele, their 2022 version of those aforementioned pitchers took a no-hitter through six innings, but was lifted in favor of LHP Nick Stella. He was one strike away from finishing it off, before Bayport-Blue Point ruined the bid and got on the board on an RBI double, briefly putting a scare into the hometown faithful....
Final: Clarke 5, Island Trees 2 WP: Sean Welsh S: Nick Giardino pic.twitter.com/OHFVwJvoJK — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) March 31, 2022 This was the very site of plenty of great battles last season between two high-octane Conference V rivals. After plenty of jostling throughout the regular season and one blowout playoff game, Island Trees took two critical games at Clarke, with their backs firmly against the wall. They were unable to continue that magic from 2021, as the Clarke Rams defeated Island Trees, 5-2, on opening day of the 2022 season after two consecutive cancellations to start the week. Th conditions were awful for pitchers and fielders despite the 57 degree temperatures due to winds gusting at 40+ MPH. A few fly balls were overrun and pitchers struggled with command ...
Postgame interview with Rocky Point HC Anthony Anzalone following their season opening 2-1 victory over East Islip pic.twitter.com/iASJHbpzTa — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) March 30, 2022 This was a game that I had circled on the calendar. The reigning Conference IV Long Island Champs on the road against one of the most talented teams in Suffolk. Both teams sending their hard-throwing southpaw ace to the hill. Rocky Point came out on top, 2-1, in our Ken Kortright Agency Game of the Week led by their four Preseason All-Long Island Players. While baseball is a team sport, and Rocky Point certainly has talent all over the field, it doesn’t hurt to have four Division-I commits that all have varsity experience. Carbone, the reigning League MVP squared off against Stony Brook-comm...
Final: St. John’s 9, Hofstra 7 WP: Oliver McCarthy S: Chuck Sanzio David Glancy: 3-for-3 , 3 HRs, 2 BBs, 4 RBIs pic.twitter.com/HX9zvr4aGw — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) March 22, 2022 David Glancy came to the plate five times for St. John’s. Twice they put him on first base, and the other three times he reminded them why they should’ve done so. The Johnnies LF crushed home runs in all three of his official at bats in St. John’s 9-7 victory over Hofstra on Tuesday afternoon. He doubled his season’s total on the day. It was a wild game that features plenty of back-and-forth scoring. Hofstra showed they are a team to be taken seriously, as they overcame an early 3-0 deficit but also watched a 7-5 lead evaporate, before nearly coming back in the 9th innin...
Fordham-commit Jack Vallario (St. Anthony’s 2022) is the reigning CHSAA Player of the Year. Compiled OPS of 1.253. Pro potential pic.twitter.com/B8OnvFZl60 — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) February 1, 2022 Led by the returning CHSAA Player of the Year, Jack Vallario, St. Anthony’s is looking to take a step forward in 2022. They were defeated in the first round of the playoffs by St. Dominic, but they have their sights set on taking a leap this season. Vallario, a senior SS that is committed to Fordham University, is coming off an outstanding 2021 season that has earned him the respect of teammates and opposing players alike. Coach Paul Parsolano had high praise for his captain: “I attach other infielders to him – they follow his lead,” said Parsolano, wh...
Adelphi RHP Josh Rovner discusses the Panthers’ double header sweep over Saint Anselm. Rovner went 5 IP, struck out 6 and allowed just one run. Panthers won Game 2 by the score of 13-1 pic.twitter.com/OF1jkyTrfr — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) February 27, 2022 The Adelphi Panthers kicked off the official Bill Ianniciello era with a double header sweep against visiting Saint Anselm College on a typically cold February afternoon at William J. Bonomo Field. Here’s how it went down: Game 1: The Panthers sent ace Nic Luc to the hill. The fifth-year senior was greeted rudely by Ward Melville grad Brady Doran with a leadoff double. He came around to score on an RBI single by Zack Clough. That was all Luc would allow, though. He settled in and wound up striking out 9 batters ov...
by Nicholas Cipolla Will Irwin makes it 2-1 team Francisco with a 2 out double to center pic.twitter.com/ZTw5VNkMKW — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) November 7, 2021 Team Francisco and LIB quite literally played until the sun set on the 2021 season. Team Francisco took home the fall season championship in a 3-1 victory in 6 innings as they had to battle not just LIB, but also the fading sunlight as daylight savings time began today. This meant that the sunset today was at approximately 4:40 and this game (slated for 1:30) was pushed back to a 2:57 pm first pitch due to a semi-final game concluding on the site of the championship game. Despite this, we still had a game to be played, and a champion to be crowned. LIB drew first blood in the first inning on a first and third double ste...
