By Blake Buscemi The Prospects absolutely blew the game open in the fourth and fifth, tacking on 6 runs leading to a mercy rule ending in the bottom of the fifth. Here’s an RBI double from Charlie Imhof from the bottom of the fourth. Final: Prospects 10, Crush 2 pic.twitter.com/44TNykgXlI — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 18, 2022 There were a pair of Blue Chip Prospect Father’s Day games in the 17u division being played Saturday afternoon at Moriches Athletic Complex. The first one was a slugfest, so it was an action-packed game to watch. James Sill took the hill for the Long Island Elite Prospects against the New York Crush. The Crush came out swinging early, starting with a Guerrero single followed by an Almonte RBI single two batters later. LaRussa then singled to righ...
By Chris Prystupa Here’s Doug Davies from Long Island Baseball as he takes us through his at-bat where he hit a double bringing home the go-head run leading to a 4-3 game one victory pic.twitter.com/z1U5oMuRxE — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 18, 2022 It was a beautiful day for two games at West Babylon HS as the 16U Team Francisco Prime took on the 16U Long Island Baseball-Select (LIB). Both teams played well in each game but LIB ultimately came away with two wins. In game one of the double header, LIB wasted no time as they scored two runs thanks to an error and a RBI single by Dylan Cantwell. Just as quickly as they jumped out to a two run lead, Team Francisco responded back with a run of their own in the bottom of the first. They were able to capitalize on a wild pitch and ...
By Blake Buscemi Gargano retires Adamo to end the game after a couple of North Fork runs to end the game. Final: South Shore 6, North Fork 3 pic.twitter.com/omWT1Zb2Xf — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 17, 2022 Another Hamptons League matchup took place at Cochran Park in Peconic this afternoon, this time between the South Shore Clippers and the North Fork Ospreys. I covered a Clippers game last week and saw some impressive performances, so I knew I would see some more notable performances today. Adelphi standout John Rizzo took the mound for the Clippers, coming off a ten-strikeout performance last week. He faced off against Andrew Neff, who pitches for the University of Cincinnati. Neff was rolling right away, as he induced a groundout to short from Adelphi’s Johnny Catuosco,...

Despite winning by 7 runs, it wasn’t easy for MVP Beast. They were down 1-0 in the bottom of the third inning before they erupted for 4 runs in the inning and scored 4 more runs throughout the rest of the game. Early on in this one, Nick Rizzo looked like he was on his A-Game for Team Steel Scout. As John Sterling would say, Nobody was beating the Riz early on as he struck out 5 batters in the first 2 innings while only allowin...
by Chris Prystupa Here’s the man in charge Head Coach Coppola, he shared a few quick words on his team’s great day offensively and his starting pitcher, Jason Stiles, who dominated throwing 5 shutout innings. pic.twitter.com/MWaZhnbaox — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 17, 2022 Freedom Baseball came to Hofstra University ready to play in their Boys of Summer midweek matchup against B1000 Seminoles. They were dominating on both sides of the baseball as their offense exploded for ten runs and their starting pitcher, Jason Stiles, pitched five shutout innings in the win. The scoring started early for Freedom Baseball in the bottom half of the first, courtesy of Kyle Coppola. He put a ball in play for a fielder’s choice, allowing Anthony Manetta to score after his leadoff double. Th...
by Chris Prystupa Here’s one of todays top performers, Andrew Heiderstadt, who dominated his game one start. He spoke with us about how he felt, what he worked on and his goals for the summer season. pic.twitter.com/OkqhbuDmIQ — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 14, 2022 It was a mid-week double header for Next Level and 17 Sports baseball as they went head-to-head at Cantiague Park. The first of two games was a low-scoring and quick affair as the game wrapped up in just a little over an hour. Next Level sent starting pitcher Andrew Heiderstadt to the mound and he threw a scoreless first inning in his first outing of the summer. His counterpart for the 17 Sports, Timmy Mott, would also throw a zero in his first inning as well. The pair would continue to hold each other’s tea...
The 13u Connecticut Cubs defeated the LI Strong in a best-of-three series to capture the inaugural Kings Point Classic hosted by the United States Merchant Marine Academy. The Cubs played outstanding baseball in all facets of the game and won by the scores of 12-1 and 16-3. The Cubs are in their first year as an organization – but they are off to quite a strong start. Their first tournament was Memorial Day Weekend at the Field of Dreams in Iowa. Playing in a 34-team field, they compiled a record of 7-0 and captured first place. They followed that up with two more convincing wins to bring their overall record to an unblemished 9-0 on the season. The team is composed of 13 players – 8 of which all attend the same school and have been playing together for several years. They comp...
by Chris Prystupa Here’s Owls (Kneisel) RHP Jaden Schmidt on his dominant start in the Taylor Ryan tournament’s championship game pic.twitter.com/cfs6D1Y3Ua — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 13, 2022 It was a well-rounded game played between both Islip Owls Kneisel and Islip Owls Mckenna today at East Islip Highschool. Both teams pitched well, played solid defense, and had timely hitting but Owls Kneisel ultimately outlasted their opponent. Owls McKenna would send right-handed pitcher Connor Villano to the mound and he would be just as effective as his counterpart Jaden Schmidt on Owls Kneisel. Both pitchers were the definition of efficiency as the starters were dominating each other’s lineups through the first two innings. In the top of the third inning, the first run of...
By Blake Buscemi South Shore gets the win as Ryan Hynes closes it out for the save, inducing a Milone strikeout. Final: South Shore 4, Westhampton 2 pic.twitter.com/wiOsJZ0Aou — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 11, 2022 The Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League is officially underway, starting with an afternoon matchup between the Westhampton Aviators and the South Shore Clippers. The Hamptons League is an elite summer league for prospects nationwide, so it was a given that we were going to see some competitive baseball. The pitching matchup was as good as someone could have asked for. John Rizzo, who posted phenomenal numbers at Adelphi as a freshman with a 3.70 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 73 innings, took the mound against Cole Koeppel, who pitches for the University of Massachusetts...
by Gabe Zoda Final play of the game was a pop out to seal it for the West Islip Lions. They Won 10-5 and won the 11u Spring Invitational. Congrats! pic.twitter.com/QjzhtgkbVG — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 11, 2022 No matter what level you play at, there’s nothing like being in the championship game. The same can be said in the Spring Invitational game between the West Islip Lions and the West Warriors. This game was back-and-forth throughout the entire matchup until the Lions pushed away late to take a 10-4 victory in the 7 inning game. The big philosophy from both sides was to work walks and get on base and then try to steal bags to get in positions to score. That recurring theme started all the way in the top of the first where the West Islip Lions scored their first 2 run...
