GAME RECAP: Greendogs Hit Their Way to Victory in Stars & Stripes Tournament

In the top of 1st, the Greendogs sent Braden Cloghessy to the mound to advance them in the tournament. Cloghessy would sit down the Titans in order to give the Greendogs an opportunity in the bottom half of the inning. Cloghessy led off the bottom half with a single setting the table for the Greendogs. Cloghessy proceeded to steal 2nd and 3rd giving the Greendogs an RBI chance early. GAME RECAP: Team Francisco and LI Black Diamonds End their Duel in a Tie

In the 1st inning, starting pitcher Mac Fairbairn struck out the first 2 batters in what looked like to be a 1-2-3 inning until the Diamonds had other plans. A 2-out single from Joey Puglissi brought up Nick Petrosino, who smoked a ball down the right field line bringing in Puglissi but a nice relay by Team Francisco gunning down Petrosino at 3rd to end the inning with the Diamonds leading 1-0 after the top of the 1st inning. Though it was all CPD Baseball at the tail end of the game. LI Elite would get on the board in the 1st inning. First, Shane Harris would get off to a good start pitching as he overcame a leadoff single from Michael Cotto to get the next 3 CPD batters. Nick Rugen, Daniel LaForest, Johnny Puglissi all contributed all picked up 1 RBI in the inning. GAME RECAP: South Shore Elite and B1000 Seminoles Tie in Back-And-Forth Affair

by Chris Donnelly At MacArthur High School, a 15u Boys of Summer matchup went back-and-forth but ended up in 6-6 draw after 5 innings of play due to rain.  Six of the 12 combined runs occurred just in the 1st inning. The Seminoles loaded up the bases in the first inning. With 1 out, Zach Lam scored Ryan Jazylo with an RBI single. Nick Bodkin would then knock in another run with an RBI groundout and the Seminoles led 2-0. Chris Lonergan clears the bases with a double to make it 3-2 South Shore. In the bottom of the first inning, Tri-State proved that they can get it done on offense. It started in the top of the first when the Astros led off the game with 4 straight singles. Sean Morrissey brought in 2, Liam Byrne brought in 1, and Ryan Matson brought in 1 making it 4-0. The Seminoles opted for a pitching change before they got an out. The Seminoles eventually induced a groundout and strikeout to give themselves a chance to swing and put up runs. Arsenal never slowed down as they scored multiple runs in three innings. It started in the top of the first when Arsenal loaded the bases with one out on 3 straight walks. Arsenal was able to scratch 2 across on 2 wild pitches. The Ducks limited the damage by striking out back-to-back hitters only giving Arsenal the lead 2-0 heading to the bottom half of the inning. Six Days later at PAL Stadium, the Mustangs got their revenge by winning in dramatic fashion 4-3.  With there being 7 combined runs, it can be assumed that this game was not necessarily a pitcher’s duel, but Mustangs starter Owen Killeen and Bolts starter Ezekiel Hernandez combined for 20 strikeouts and only gave up runs in 4 of the 14 combined innings they pitched.  To start, both pitchers were dominant on the mound.
