Ian Rivera (starter for Yeti) and Vincent Genovese (starter for Arsenal) both displayed their talent on the mound immediately, as they both tossed quick 1-2-3 innings in the first. The second inning was not as easy for Rivera though, as he ran into a bases loaded one out situation after giving up a single to Mike Fosorile and walking two batters. Baseball U broke the ice in the top of the 1st against Legend’s starter Cooper Blank by putting up 3 runs early. Stellar outing from Matty Neumann, who gave up 1 earned while going the distance. pic.twitter.com/KPn4fOqGxw — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) August 6, 2023 At Wantagh Park, Matty Neumann pitched a 1-run complete game on the bump to give them a 5-1 over the OC Titans who run-ruled them earlier in the day 13-2. Aidan Carey began the game with a walk, a steal of second, and advanced home on an overthrow while stealing third. After jumping out early 1-0, Neumann worked a 1-2-3 inning to set up his team to build on their existing lead. Mike Heller was doing it all today for the Mustangs going 4 innings giving up 0 earned runs, striking out 4, while going 3-for-4 at the plate scoring 2 runs. Heller started the game off on the bump and dealt with some trouble early. LIB would load the bases with 2 outs, but Heller would reach back and strike out the batter for the 3rd out and give them the opportunity to get an early lead. CJ Burkhardt took the mound for the Aviators and looked great going 5 innings, striking out 9, and only surrendering 1 run on 2 hits. Burkhardt started off strong striking out 2 in the first and setting down Yeti in order. Ben Feil for the Seminoles and Jake Ragusa for the Storm were dominant for 7 innings in the game. Feil, a left-handed pitcher, executed 2 pickoffs to perfection to get runners off the bases and mixed in 7 punch outs to keep the Storm’s offense at bay through the first 7 frames. All 6 games they played in the postseason were at their opponent’s ballpark, they took 2 of 3 against Sag Harbor to then win 8-7 in game 1 versus Westhampton, then secure a victory in game 3 after a 11-3 loss in game 2. In all their wins, the common denominator for the Clipper was solid pitching. Against the Whalers in their wins, South Shore only gave up 2 runs and even in their game 1 win against the Aviators where they allowed 7 run...
