You never know what someone is going through. Sometimes even people with a tough exterior can be enduring some type of personal trauma that impacts their day-to-day. JJ Palumbo, a 2023 graduate of Clarke HS and an All-Conference player (.388 AVG, 1.068 OPS, 22 RBIs) was riding high in the summer of 2023. Over the summer, he hit the game-tying RBI double to help his team win the LI Boys of Summer College Division Championship at Holy Trinity HS. He was prepared to begin his co...
The game of baseball is littered with stories of players that peaked at a young age and gradually fizzled out as their peers caught up with their size and ultimately were never the same. It is a breath of fresh air when a player is the inverse of that, somebody that was constantly overlooked and always outworked the competition. Big Congratulations to 2021 Titan, Nick Roselli on being drafted in the 11th round by the New York Mets! Nick is a kid that never gets out worked. He truly deserved this! Go crush it at the Pro Level!! @nickroselli2021 @axcessbaseball #TitanNation pic.twitter.com/m2HrksJCsn — Titans (@TitansBsb) July 16, 2024 Enter Nick Roselli. I first watched him play at Sal Agostinelli’s Northeast Elite when he hit a walk-off double in the bottom of the 9th at Baseball Hea...
By Skip Murray Galita Leiderman stood alongside the signage that honored her husband Michael at the Suffolk County Police Athletic League Sports Complex in Holtsville. The Long Island Boys of Summer Baseball League erected the six-by-eight-foot sign in honor of a man who was all baseball all the time. The BOS built two brand new batting cages on each side of the PAL Stadium field. Leiderman’s wife along with former Long Island Storm pitcher Matt Lyons and Long Island Stan Musial board member George Rhein of the Long Island Cardinals took part in the dedication of the batting cages. “To say I’m proud of him is an understatement,” she said. “His impact in the Long Island baseball community will be felt forever. He was a passionate man in everything he did – but his greatest love was th...
by Jacob Infald There is absolutely zero quit in the squad from Smithtown as this Saturday morning doubleheader showed why the Smithtown Bulls are at the top of the league in the East Coast 10U Summer Showdown National division. After overcoming a 9-0 deficit earlier in the season against the Sharks Baseball Academy, the Bulls demonstrated some more resilience today, including overcoming a 10-5 deficit in the last inning to sweep the doubleheader against a scrappy Farmingdale Greendogs team, winning two tightly contested games by scores of 5-4 and 11-10 respectfully to improve to 14-0 on the season. We spoke with today’s player of the game Grayson Dick and Coach Hyne. Grayson was the winning pitcher, pitching the last two innings allowing no runs. He also scored the game winning run. The p...
Rafe Schlesinger became the first Sachem East alum in their 20-year history to be selected in the MLB Draft. The 2021 grad was selected in the 4th round by the Cleveland Guardians following his three-year career at the University of Miami where he became one of the top southpaws in the nation. The last Sachem alum to get selected was Alec Sole in 2014 by Tampa Bay out of St. Louis University. Rafe has been a high-profile name in the Long Island baseball community for several years. We first profiled back in early 2019 before he stepped foot on a varsity field. His pitching coach at the time, Neal Heaton, stated that he was ahead of where Steven Matz was at the same age. Matz, of course, went on to get selected by the New York Mets in 2009 and has been in the big leagues since 2015. Schlesi...

He came up clutch with runners in scoring position multiple times, more on him in a bit. Dominic Zunich also had a good day at the plate for B1 Ghost, he went 2 for 3 with a double and 3 runs scored. After a scoreless first inning, B1 Ghost jumped to a 2-0 lead in the second. Scibilia sent the first runner in with an RBI single, and then a second crossed due ...
by Jacob Infald After a tough 1-1 tie on Friday against the South Shore Aviators, the Owls Baseball Club bounced back today in resounding fashion, sweeping a doubleheader against Titans Hutter, winning game one 10-3, and game two 3-1. Behind some very sound pitching, the Owls now improve to 11-5-1 on the season, trailing only South Shore Elite in the win column in the LI Boys of Summer 16U American division. We spoke with Dylan Longo (East Islip 2026) after the game. He talks about his dominant outing where he threw six innings of one run ball, leading the Owls to a 3-1 victory. pic.twitter.com/2486gSin6j — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 14, 2024 Game 1: The catalyst for the Owls’ success in game one was starting pitcher Nick Haas (Deer Park 2026). Pratt launched a dramatic walk-off three-run homer, capping off an improbable six-run rally and earning him the game’s Most Valuable Player award. He is the first North Fork Osprey to achieve this honor since Austin Miller in 2014. Pratt’s heroics secured a victory for Team Blue, who entered the sixth inning trailing 4-0...

After finishing atop the 2023 regular season standings and falling one game short of their first championship since 2019, the Aviators have struggled to find their footing early on. In their last game before the upcoming All-Star Break, the Aviators sought to ignite a spark for the remainder of the summer. Fueled by a stellar complete game from Charlie Aurandt (St. Joseph’s LI) and a barrage of seven unanswered runs, the Aviators soared past the Sag Harbor Whalers...
by Joe Bello Ryan Brush following his 2/3 with 2B and 5 RBI performance at the plate. pic.twitter.com/xvBBxZqVtR — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 11, 2024 On a very hot July 11th evening, LIB Select took on LI Elite Venegas in a LI Boys of Summer 14u American Division game. Ryan Brush was a big contributor in this one, leading Elite to a 10-1 mercy rule win. Brush went 2 for 3 with a double and 5 RBIs. Jack Gerbosi also was hot on offense, going 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs for Elite. Elite started the offense early in the 1st inning. Landon Behrens worked an RBI walk to drive in the first run. Then Brush crushed a bases clearing double to center field, giving Elite a 4-0 lead. LIB got one back in the bottom half of the inning, with a perfectly executed hit and run. Frankie Menfre with t...
by John Sullivan Postgame interview with Jonathan Moya, who went 5 and a third with only 1 run given up on 3 hits and 6 strikeouts pic.twitter.com/zyBXvQsIFo — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 11, 2024 After dropping game 1 of the doubleheader to B1 Ghost, LIB Prime was poised to jump on B1’s starter, Jonathan Moya. LIB lead off batter, Frank Stella, did just that, as he ripped the first pitch he saw down the left field line for a double. Alex Catania and Dylan Babek then both worked walks to load the bases with no outs. Anthony Sanchez then came through with a single the other way to put LIB up 1-0. With the bases loaded, no outs, and 1 run already scored, it looked like a possibly disastrous inning for B1. But, luckily for them, Moya settled down in a big way and get two backwar...
by John Sullivan Postgame interview with Vance Kane, who was 2 for 3 with the go-ahead two run inside the park homer in the seventh inning pic.twitter.com/B4gRdVPzvW — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 9, 2024 The matchup on Tuesday night at Mitchel field featured the top team in the league, LI Titans Crema, who were 12-0 entering the game, facing off against the bottom team in the league, CPD East, who were 0-10 going into the game. CPD would go on to prove that they’re a much better team than their record shows, and they can beat any team on any given day, especially when Steven Quiroz is pitching for them. Quiroz, a consistent strike thrower who pitched to contact, started off the game in the top of the first with a scoreless inning, despite issuing a walk and a base hit. In th...
