Adelphi-Pace Preview

Pace will host Adelphi today at 1 pm in the first round of the Northeast-10 playoffs. The Setters (21-17, 12-8) are the No. 1 seed in the southwest division of the conference. The two teams met on March 25 and the Setters were victorious 11-1. Since then, the Panthers are a much improved team. Additionally, they are very dangerous team with Jonathon Mulford on the mound. He last pitched on Saturday, so this would be only three days rest for him. Coach Scala is opting to pitch sophomore T.J. Santiago. He’s had a tough year, he is currently 0-4 with a 5.28 ERA. He has allowed 67 hits in 46 innings. He is trending up, however. Over his past three starts he has gone six, five and 6.2 innings. He has allowed only six runs during that stretch with 13 strikeouts.  Pace hit .258 as a team th...

Nick Fanti Overwhelms Kings Park, Strikes Out 14 in 6-0 Shutout

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Tz4mhtBrfY] It’s nice to have a stud pitcher that consistently fires fastballs by the opposition. Hauppauge has that luxury this year with LHP Nick Fanti–who continued his absurd season with a two-hit shutout of Kings Park with 14 strikeouts. He is now 6-0 on the season and will most likely get drafted in next month’s Rule IV MLB draft. “When Nick Fanti is throwing for you,” said Head Coach Josh Hutes, pausing at the end. “you just know you have a chance to win every baseball game that you play,” he added. “Nick just battled, he’s such a competitor, he gives you a chance to win every time,” he said. Fanti came out of the gate firing 88-89 MPH fastballs and struck out the first six batters h...

Northeast-10 Playoff Field Set

The Northeast-10 playoff field is set and the Adelphi Panthers have earned the No. 4 seed in the southwest division. They will take on No. 1 seed Pace on Tuesday at 2 pm. Jonathon Mulford is expected to be the starter for the Panthers and he is undefeated at 7-0. We will have more coverage tomorrow including a deeper look into the match up. ECC Playoff Field Set

Dowling has been crowned co-regular season champions with a 15-9 record in conference play. They tied with Bridgeport. On Thursday, Dowling will be the home team against LIU Post in the first round of the playoffs, which will be held at Molloy College. On paper, it would seem the Golden Lions are the superior team, but on April 11 they faced Pioneers’ ace Jake DeCarli and were defeated 7-2. LIU Post took three of four games that series so it will certainly be an intriguing match up. Additionally, the Golden Lions are without ace Cody McPartland, who suffered a season-ending knee injury. Later in the week we will delve deeper into the game, previewing the offense, pitching and defense of both teams.

Old Westbury is Crowned Skyline Conference Champs

The reign is over. After watching their Nassau County rivals, Farmingdale State own the conference for the previous seven seasons, Old Westbury has finally dethroned them.“AMAZING!!” said winning pitcher, and tournament MVP Tyler Kapela in regards to how it feels to be champs. “So happy we finally pulled it off for our coaches and seniors,” he added. It took getting to the elimination game, but the Panthers clobbered the Rams 11-4 behind Kapela’s complete game victory.
