Q & A With Brendan Williams

Every year there’s a player who makes that ‘jump’ from a good player to one that you can’t ignore. Franklin Parra comes to mind as a pitcher that was very good but then became a prospect. Logan O’Hoppe certainly would be the very definition of that. Last year there was Andrew Ledbetter. This year it’s looking like Brendan Williams of West Hempstead is that player. After his outing on Sunday, many people have become curious how he was in obscurity until his performance in the Northeast Elite. That’s just what happens when you play in the countywide conference._x000D_

My dad and my grandfather have both been positive influences.  They push me to practice and work hard so I become better.  My older brother, who plays college ball, and high school coach, Chris DeMarzo, have also taught me discipline and that hard work will pay off for me in the future._x000D_

Do you feel that you’ve been overlooked for attending a smaller high school?

_x000D_

_x000D_

Yes, it was hard to get noticed while playing high school ball. That is why I enjoy playing for the Long Island Junior Ducks.  There is a higher level of competition which brings attention from scouts and college coaches.
