Many of the early season southern tours are over for local teams as we start so see some college baseball back in the Northeast. Here is how all the action went down in week four.
Division I:
Niagara 10, Stony Brook 9
Despite the cold weather, this was an offensive battle with the Purple Eagles taking an early 4-0 lead. A home run by Stony Brook’s Johnny Pilla and 11 walked handed out by the Niagara pitching staff allowed the Seawolves to climb back into the game.
Stony Brook took an 8-5 lead after a three-run double by Luke Szepek, but Niagara’s Shawn Cameron came up with a two-run triple, before Jacob Brooks drove in the tying run with a single.
Curtis McKay delivered the game-winning hit, a go-ahead RBI double in the 10th inning.
Pilla was on base four times, going 3-for-4 with a walk, home run, stolen base, two runs scored and four RBI. Erik Paulsen was aboard four times, going 1-for-3 with three walks.
For the Purple Eagles, Vincent Mauro went 5-for-6 with two doubles and two RBI. Brooks also had two hits and three RBI.
The two sides will play the rubber match on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Albany 10, Hofstra 8
The Pride led 6-4 as late as the sixth, and tied the game at eight in the seventh inning. Trenton Snyder delivered the big hit for Hofstra, a three-run triple to turn a 4-3 deficit into a 6-4 lead. Unfortunately for them, the bullpen fell apart as Albany scored six runs in the final four innings.
In the eighth inning, Albany’s Logan Morris delivered the go-ahead single before the Great Danes added an insurance run in the ninth, courtesy of an RBI groundout by Luke Myers.
Alex Enea slammed the door for Albany, firing two scoreless innings in relief while striking out three batters and grabbing the save.
Tyler Castrataro went 3-for-5 for Hofstra, notching a double and a run scored. Luke Masiuk went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI.
Thomas McElwee had two hits in four at bats for the Great Danes, tallying a double, an RBI, a walk and a run scored.
Game three is set for noon on Sunday in Hempstead.
LIU 9, Central Connecticut State 8
LIU edged out CCSU on a 9-8 walk-off on Saturday in their home opener. Jack Power delivered the keynote, a three-run homer in a six-run third inning to give the Sharks a 5-3 lead.
Later on, Power came up with the game-winner with a walkoff solo-shot in the ninth.
The game featured multiple lead changes, with CCSU rallying to tie the game at eight in the sixth inning.
Brady Short went 3-for-6 for CCSU while Colby Brouilette went 3-for-3 with two walks.
Power finished the day 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs while two other LIU hitters finished with multiple hits.
The two sides will wrap up their weekend series with a double-header on Sunday, starting at 11:30 am.
St. John’s 11, NJIT 3
The Johnnies used a four-run fifth inning and a five run eighth to take down the Highlanders in Queens. St. John’s first four hitters each had multiple hits, with Shaun Mcmillan going 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and an RBI. His triple also contributed to the St. John’s rally in the fifth inning.
On the mound, David Rodriguez twirled six innings of one-run baseball to get the win — his first of the year.
Ray Ortiz was responsible for two of the Highlanders’ four hits while scoring twice and stealing a base.
After splitting the first two games of the weekend, the deciding game three is penciled in for 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Fordham 12, Army West Point 2
The Rams secured a 12-2 victory on the road over Army West Point on Saturday, March 8, 2025, as outfielder Cian Sahler delivered a career-high seven RBIs, matching his personal best with four hits. Additionally, Taylor Kirk had four hits from Fordham’s leadoff spot.
The Rams’ offense was particularly potent in the sixth inning, scoring six runs to extend their lead.
On the mound, Mike Rabayda earned his first win of the season, pitching seven innings and allowing two earned runs while striking out eight batters.
The series will travel back to the Bronx on Sunday, with game three set for noon.
Division II
Lynn 8, Molloy 7
Despite attempting a valiant comeback, Molloy fell short, losing 8-7. After trailing 8-1, the Lions scored six unanswered runs, narrowing the gap but ultimately not completing the comeback.
Sean Welsh led the way for Mollow, going 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBI. Anthony Marsillo had two hits and also left the yard.
Lynn had five players record two or more hits, with Cole Fowler going 3-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI.
As part of the Lynn Invitational, Molloy will take on the University of New Haven on Sunday at 3 p.m.
Game 1: Adelphi 4, Sanity Anselm 3
Game 2: Saint Anselm 7, Adelphi 2
Adelphi and Saint Anselm split their baseball doubleheader on Saturday at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in North Carolina.
In the first game, Adelphi secured a 4-3 victory with starter Jack Carr going five scoreless innings. Adelphi got a walk-off single from Alex Rende, scoring Jack Tate.
In the second game, Saint Anselm dominated with a 7-2 win, ending the game after seven innings. The Hawks’ offense exploded in the fifth inning, getting helped by a Brendan Harris three-run home run to left field. Shortly after, Shea Howrigan added a solo home run to center field, extending the lead to 7-2.
Adelphi ends its weekend on Sunday as it takes on St. Thomas Aquinas at 10 a.m.
