It was an exciting day on the diamond for the local teams, and there was a huge milestone win as well. Without further ado, here’s how it went down:

Division-I:

Fordham 14, Harvard 10

These two teams squared off for the first time since 1936 and the Rams came out on top in a wild one that featured 24 runs on 28 hits at the USA Complex. But the bats came to play for both teams and Harvard would fight back, eventually taking a 10-8 lead in the sixth inning. Undeterred, the Rams tied it up on Andrew Kanellis double and took the lead for good with Matt Dieguez’ two-run single breaking the game open.

His counterpart, Justin Henschel, was even better – going throwing five shutout innings. George Adams, the lefty from Massapequa who is the reigning Diamond Award winner, had a rough go of it. He was tagged with five runs over three innings as FGC broke the game open in the 8th inning.

The Seawolves actually had 10 hits in this game; their lone run came on a Chanz Doughty RBI single in the eighth to tie the game at 1-1. Doughty, Evan Goforth and Nico Azpilcueta each had two hits.
