Up Next Powered by Ken Kortright State Farm Agency: Joe Maxwell

(This is the fourth installment of the popular “Up Next” Series in which we highlight the top underclassmen across Long Island. Previously, we featured Dylan Weinstein, Jaxson Torres and Richie Roberts. Special thanks to Ken Kortright State Farm Agency for sponsoring this year’s feature.)

Defense up the middle is valuable commodity in the game of baseball. While every coach wants their team to be flawless defensively, they prioritize being strong defensively at catcher, middle infield and center field. This year, Joe Maxwell provided that for Beast 2027 National. He not only provided some highlight reel plays defensively, he was outstanding offensively. That type of player profile is very rare.

Over the summer, he batted .412 with a .505 OBP, 9 doubles, 1 HR, 25 RBIs and 12 SBs. He was even better during the fall – compiling a triple slash line of .439/.528/.719 with 10 doubles, 3 triples, 22 RBIs and 10 SBs.

He was the top rated offensive performer in three consecutive PG events – including 1 PG Tournament MVP.

As of today, he has transferred to Holy Trinity HS from Plainedge, where he will look to contribute to the winning culture that Coach Dan Luisi has instilled.

I spoke to his summer coach, Bobby Molinaro, and here’s what he had to say:

“Joseph is an incredibly fierce competitor who plays the game with an extreme amount of intensity. He displays all the leadership qualities you look for when building a team. He displays an exemplary work ethic. Joseph hits the ball to all fields, has some pop and excellent speed. His defensive abilities are unmatched. Maxwell will be an extremely valuable asset to any college program and should make an immediate impact at the next level.”

I had a chance to speak with him and here’s what he had to say…

How have you enjoyed your time with Beast?

Honestly, joining Beast was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. The facility is really nice, the staff is very helpful and the coaches and people running the organization truly care about taking you to the next level – especially my coach Bobby. In only this one year, he has exposed me and my teammates to tons of great things and for that I am very grateful.
