The 11u Roslyn Bulldogs defeated the Long Island Black Diamonds in a rainy Sunday afternoon game at Wantagh Park.
There were plenty of runs to go around in this game, and the Bulldogs struck first in the top of the first inning. After a couple of walks to start the game they were able to get their first run on an RBI groundout, taking a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the inning.
The Black Diamond offense was able to answer immediately in the bottom of the first with four runs of their own, thanks to their heads up baserunning. Recording just one hit in the first inning, a series of walks and passed balls led them to their early three run lead. By the end of the first the Black Diamonds led 4-1.
Despite the steady rainfall, neither offense could be slowed down Sunday afternoon, and the Black Diamond lead did not last for long. After a relatively quiet first inning ,the Bulldogs struck for five in the second. Two runs came in on wild pitches, and another two runs were walked in,
Infielder Davis Weinstein also drove in a run during the big inning, he led his team in RBI with two runs driven in on Sunday. The Bulldogs led 6-4 after the top of the second.

After a scoreless bottom of the second the Bulldogs went right back to scoring in the third. They pushed across four more runs in the inning, with one coming in on a single by Jacob Hirt. With a runner in scoring position, Hirt smacked a line drive over the head of the leaping Black Diamond shortstop.
Hirt finished the day 1-2 with an RBI and two runs scored, and the Bulldogs held an 11-4 lead halfway through the third.
The Black Diamonds were able to muster three more runs thanks to a few walks and an infield single, but ultimately the Bulldogs came out on top by a score of 11-7 after a time limit shortened four inning game. Gavin Van Dyne came in to slam the door, pitching the last two innings for the Bulldogs to help his team to victory.
