South Shore Elite took on Long Island Elite in a LI Boys of Summer 14u American Division matchup on Monday evening. South Shore came away with the win by a score of 4-3, despite being no-hit by Long Island Elite.
Antonio Manfre and Ryan Brush combined for the no-no. Manfre finished with 4.1 IP, 0 H, 7 K, 4 BB, 4 R (0 earned runs). While Brush got the last four outs only allowing one walk.
Manfre had a good day at the plate for LI Elite as well, going 2 for 2 with two RBI.
Ethan Reiner started on the mound for South Shore, unfortunately leaving the game due to injury after only 1.1 IP. We wish all the best for Reiner as he heals up.
Brody Myers came into the game and was outstanding, throwing 5.2 IP with 4 hits, 2 walks, 1 run and 5 strikeouts.
LI Elite started the scoring in the first inning, taking a 2 run lead. Antonio Manfre ripped an RBI single to right field. After that Ryan Brush scored another with a sacrifice fly.
LI Elite would go up 3-0 in the third inning courtesy of a Antonio Manfre sacrifice fly, Manfre’s 2nd RBI of the day.
South Shore Elite turned the tables on LI Elite with a 4 spot in the bottom of the third inning.
The first two runners crossed the plate on a sac bunt by Nicholas Wojcik. The next two came across on a ball thrown out of play and then a passed ball.
South Shore would take this lead all the way to until the end, and hold on for the 4-3 victory.

Axcess Baseball spoke to Brody Myers after the game.
“I was really spotting my outside fastball. I went out there, did my job for my team and they made the plays.”
South Shore’s fielding was amazing during this one, and Myers was very appreciative of it.
“They were immaculate,” Myers said, “I came in and my job was to throw strikes and my team got my back.”
With the win, South Shore jumps to a record of 8-9-2, while LI Elite drops to 6-15.
