On Tuesday evening, B1 Ghost Diaz Black took on MXE Academy Giac Squad Buckley in an LI Boys of Summer 13u American Division matchup. Ghost came away victorious in this one, a 4-3 extra innings win.
Anthony Scibilia led the way for Ghost with two different RBI singles. He came up clutch with runners in scoring position multiple times, more on him in a bit.
Dominic Zunich also had a good day at the plate for B1 Ghost, he went 2 for 3 with a double and 3 runs scored.
After a scoreless first inning, B1 Ghost jumped to a 2-0 lead in the second. Scibilia sent the first runner in with an RBI single, and then a second crossed due to an overthrow of the pitcher.
Giac Squad were quick to answer back though, tying the game up at 2 in the bottom of the third inning. Both of these runs scored on passed balls.
Both teams would tack one on in the fourth inning.
Ghost would score on Scibilia’s second RBI single of the evening. Giac Squad tied it up on an RBI single by Aidan Moreno. Moreno was solid at the plate finishing 2 for 2 with a double, an RBI and a hit by pitch.
The score would remain at 3 apiece through seven innings, sending this one to extra frames.

In the top half of the eighth, Ghost took a 4-3 lead on an error by the catcher. Ryan Cantillo shut down the Giac Squad offense in the bottom half of the frame to secure the win for B1.
Cantillo picked up the win and finished the game with a final line of 4.1 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 3 K, 1 R.

It was a defensive affair for sure with five total double plays made between the two squads. Robert Salem was a big part of the three turned by the Ghost.
Scibilia spoke to Axcess Baseball following his 2 RBI day at the plate.
“I was seeing the ball very well.” He said, “In both of my first two at bats I had a runner on third, I just got the job done and hit the ball to the outfield.”
With the win, B1 Ghost Diaz Black improve to a record of 10-5 and sit tied for 5th place in the 13u American Division.
While MXE Academy Giac Squad Buckley dropped to 7-4-1, right behind Ghost tied for 6th place.
Both squads will be competing in the upcoming Axcess Baseball Invitational Tournament this weekend.
