The Hofstra Pride opened their conference play at home with a doubleheader split against the Northeastern Huskies. The Pride were victorious in the first game 3-2, before suffering a defeat in the second game, losing 13-9 in an offensive shootout.

In the first game, all five runs were scored in the first inning. The scoring was opened by the Huskies just two batters into the game when Tyler MacGregor connected on a two-run home run to give Northeastern an early lead in the contest. However, Hofstra immediately responded in the bottom of the first frame when Luke Masiuk drove in two on a double. One batter later, Matt Pelcher brought in the go-ahead, and eventual game-winning run. Following a rocky start, Michael O’Hanlon settled in and shined for the Pride. Mike McKenna pitched the final three innings of the game for the Pride and picked up his third save of the season.

Much like the first game, both teams scored early in the game, with Hofstra holding onto a 6-4 lead after the fifth inning. It was the sixth inning when Northeastern took control. The Huskies outscored the Pride nine to three in the game’s final four innings to salvage a split in the doubleheader.

For the Pride, Santino Rosso led the way offensively with three RBIs. Sean Lane and Alex McCoy also shined, both connecting on home runs. Lane and Michael Florides each had two RBIs, while McCoy and Masiuk each had one. The Pride used seven different pitchers in game two, but it was Matt Haggerty who was charged with the loss.
