in 2022, Joey Lionetti introduced himself to the baseball world by firing a no-hitter on ESPN to send Massapequa Coast to the LLWS for the first time in their 72-year history.
In 2023, Lionetti had a ton of success on the baseball field, albeit with much less viewers.
He played middle school baseball and in his first start, he struck out 9 batters, gave up two hits and 0 runs. He went on to represent Team Northeast in the Team USA Nationals down in Cary, NC. He was also selected to the PG National All-State Select Championships in Texas where he was named Player of the Game. Additionally, he was named to 5 PG All-Tournament teams and had a monster season at the plate while playing at the 13u, 14u and 15u levels.

Lionetti, a Massapequa native, has decided to attend Chaminade HS when he starts high school next year. He will certainly be a player to watch as he has already established himself as one of the best players in the region.
In the meantime, he will have to play another year of middle school and he will be playing summer ball for Showtime Select 2028 who are sure to make some noise with many of the top players on the island.
He is on an incredible trajectory and has a bright future ahead.
