When you are named after Bryce Harper, you are certainly destined to being a ballplayer.
West Islip-native Bryce Cutrone is one of the top players in his age group on Long Island and has made a name for himself with some impressive numbers and accolades already.
This season, he was outstanding for the NY Longhorns. He batted .510 with 35 HRs and 105 RBIs on the small fields. During the Longhorns Championship run in Cooperstown, he took his game to the next level – batting .727 with 10 HRs and 25 RBIs over their 10-0 trip. Bryce is also a dominant pitcher – he’s already in the mid 70s and he compiled a record of 8-2 with a 2.20 ERA and 74 Ks over 47 innings.

He received numerous accolades including being named to PG All-State team in Texas and the MVP of the New England Elite Championship. Three times he’s been named MVP of Perfect Game Tournaments and he also made Team USA NTIS which is a merit based team reserved for the best players in the region.
His coach, Erik Paulsen Sr., said “he’s a physical freak. I’ve never seen a kid with power and speed like him.” He noted that he is running a 6.9 60-yard dash and hit a homer 350 feet this summer.
He is certainly a player to keep an eye on in the future and he plans to stay in his public school and attend powerhouse West Islip. I had a chance to speak with him and here’s what he had to say…
