In a 14U American/Central Boys of Summer matchup between the Rosyln Bulldogs and B1 Seminoles Parise, the Bulldogs would win 5-4 in the bottom of the 9th on a walk-off error.
Jake Lau got the start for the Bulldogs, and to say he was dominant would be an understatement. Lau went 6 innings, surrendering 1 hit, 0 earned runs, and 11 strikeouts. Lau gave up his only hit of the outing in the 1st inning. His counterpart was just as good. Dylan McHugh got the start for B1 Seminoles Parise, and he was locked in the whole game, going 5 innings, giving up 4 hits, 0 earned runs, and striking out 7. McHugh sat down the Bulldogs in order in the 1st.
The Seminoles got on the board first after a 2-out walk, and a stolen base allowed James Longhitano to do some damage. Longhitano brought in the runner on a hard-hit ground ball that caused an error, giving the Seminoles a 1-0 lead heading into the bottom of the 3rd inning.
In the 4th, the Bulldogs were threatening after getting two runners on, but McHugh was able to stop the threat by inducing a groundball to end the inning and preserve the 1-0 lead after 4 innings. The 5th inning was quiet, as only 2 runners reached base.
The 6th inning saw more action as a leadoff walk was brought around to score on an RBI single from Zach Jeshiva to extend the Seminoles lead to 2. John Curtis relieved McHugh, and Curtis worked through a single and hit by pitch to end the 6th inning.
The Seminoles kept it up in the 7th after their first two batters reached on walks. Curtis roped a double over the left fielder’s head, scoring one, as a perfect relay kept the second runner from scoring. The Seminoles were now leading 3-0 after 7 innings. The 8th inning had the same fate as the 2nd inning, as there was little to no action.

The 9th inning was when the game got interesting. The Seminoles got runners on but couldn’t execute, so they headed to the bottom of the 9th with a 4-0 lead. The bottom of the 9th was a different story. After a leadoff followed by a fielder’s choice, the Bulldogs had 5 straight runners reach, including RBIs from Richie Roxburgh, Jake Brooks, and Wyatt Davidson, to make the score 4-3. After a groundout, it was bases loaded with 2 outs, and the Bulldogs were down 4-3 with Lau coming to the plate to try to win the game. In the most intense at-bat of the game on the 3-2 pitch, Lau took ball 4 and drove in the tying run, giving Owen Moskowitz an opportunity to be the hero. Moskowitz would get ahead into a 3-1 count, but the game was taken out of his hands as the pitcher attempted a pick-off move to 2nd base, and the ball ended up in center field, bringing in the winning run for the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs were able to finish their comeback as they won 5-4 over the B1 Seminoles Parise by scoring all 5 runs in the bottom of the 9th.
