AMP Opens Up at LI Field House

Athletic Movement Protocol (AMP), one of the premier sports performance training facilities on Long Island has opened up a second location inside of LI Field House in Hauppauge. They moved in on August 1 and are open for business, which gives them a Suffolk location in addition to their existing space in Syosset.

The space is 3,000 square feet and occupies the front of the facility, adjacent to the pitching mounds.

AMP’s owner, TJ Lopez, a graduate of Marist University with a degree in Sports Medicine, had the following to say:

“AMP was started on working with baseball and softball players. The first clients were either college or pro players. It was started at a multi-sport facility and we are getting back to our roots in that way. The quality of coaching we have – to partner with Tyler Levine and Danny Lackner’s program – it just made a lot of sense. It’s going to be a destination for people looking to develop their athletes, whether it’s a son or daughter’s team. We’ll have everything under one roof but at an extremely high level.”

That last point is critical, as many facilities offer hitting lessons, pitching lessons and sports training under one roof but Tyler Levine, owner of the Arm Academy, was the recipient of the top pitching coach on Long Island in Axcess Baseball’s fan voting in 2021 and 2022 and is renowned for his ability to incorporate biomechanics and a year-round throwing program with pitchers of all ages.

Danny Lackner, owner of Famous Swing, works with many of the top hitters on Long Island and is proficient with programs like Rapsodo, HitTrax and Swing Catalyst.

“Garrett Rodgers has been with us for 5 years. He’s the head of Sports Performance in Syosset and will be heading the show here. He has a background in coaching baseball but is also certified in a baseball-specific training program called On Base U, which helps us communicate with skill coaches how to improve biomechanics and efficiency.”

Having them in one building offers a one-stop-shop to players of all skillsets, allowing all coaches to be on the same page and fully integrate the athlete’s offseason training program into each other.

“The support system is all under one roof. Coaches can collaborate and synergies your training program so we can cover all bases and we know they’re all being taken care of. Whether you’re looking to improve bat speed or pitching velocity, we can bridge the gap between strength and the skill side with our understanding of the sport.”

Lopez went on to mention that there also an “added convenience with all your coaches in the same place instead of multiple locations” and “we are all working together not competing against one another.”

Rick Garrett, owner of LI Field House, had the following to say:

“Me and Dan Lackner have worked with AMP for over 10 years. I also have my son in their program and know what type of great systems come from it. TJ is one of the best in the business, and their philosophy on training fits perfect with our philosophy here at the Field House.”

They will offer individualized as well as team training. All of thetas that workout in the facility are working with AMP on speed and conditioning as part of their program.

In addition to everything they offer with baseball, Field House also offers SAT prep as well inside of the building, And they are waiting on the completion of their infield to be completed in October, which will be behind the building.

All told, Field House offers one of the most comprehensive training facilities on Long Island with many of the best trainers in the area.
