Yeti Baseball Navy’s Bats Stay Aggressive in Run-Rule Victory

by Chris Donnelly

In a fall league Boys of Summer 13u National division Matchup between Yeti Baseball Navy and B1000 Seminoles Pascucci, Yeti Navy was relentless in their 11-3 victory over the Seminoles scoring a run every inning.

The Seminoles got it going early after 3 straight walks loaded the bases in the top of the 1st inning. A fielder’s choice allowed 1 run to score followed by an error scoring a 2nd run. Heading to the bottom of the 1st the Seminoles leading 2-0 Yeti Navy would answer back. A leadoff single from Michael Zummo started the inning. Zummo would steal second and reach 3rd on a fielder’s choice. Zummo would come around to score on some aggressive base running after a drop 3rd strike. Yeti Navy would cut the deficit from 2 to 1 after the 1st inning.

Starting pitcher for Yeti Navy Grady Thompson settled down after the control issue he had in the 1st inning as he sat down the Seminoles in order on a strikeout, lineout, and groundout to end the half inning. The starting pitcher for the Seminoles got into some trouble early in the bottom of the 2nd giving up 3 singles in a row loading the bases with 0 outs. A walk to Grady Thompson would bring in the tying run but, Yeti Navy didn’t stop there as they would score 5 more runs after a fielder’s choice from Zummo and a single from Andrew Erato giving them a 7-2 lead after 2 innings.

In the top of the 3rd the Seminoles would threaten but that’s all it was as Yeti Navy and Thompson would get out of the inning without giving up a run. Now it was time for them to do some damage. After 2 walks to start the inning Yeti Navy were in a good position to keep adding but, a double play made the chances dwindle. Until Justin Carey would rip a single down the left field line scoring adding to their lead and making the score 8-2 after 3 innings.

Landon Burshard came on relief for Thompson. The Seminoles would get to Burshard for 1 run on a single over the right fielder’s head from Tommy Aranco. That’s all the Seminoles would get giving Yeti Navy an opportunity to end the game after 4 innings. Yeti Navy came out swinging in the bottom of the 4th with a couple of singles including RBI singles from Zummo and Erato extending their lead to 11-3 after 4 innings.

Burshard would come out to keep the Seminoles off the board and secure the win for Yeti Navy. He did just that ending the game with a strikeout securing the 11-3 run-rule win for Yeti Baseball Navy over B1000 Seminoles in the first game of a double header.
