LI Strong Baseball Academy has made great strides in their near decade long run as a program. During their organizational tryout on Monday, I was in attendance as nearly 70 players were on hand at Center Moriches HS.
I caught up with co-owner Jarad Vollkommer to discuss their growth and the video is below.

I also spoke with Douglas Podesta who’s son, Matthew, is a standout catcher at Sachem North HS. He is entering his third year with the program and here’s what he had to say:
“I really appreciate this organization. Coach Lynch, Coach Zucker, Coach Vollkommer – they really appreciate the kids, they value what they bring to the program, there’s a lot of loyalty there with them. We’ve come from a bigger organization where kids kind of fell to the wayside. Over here they really identify the talent, they get out there, they do their best to nurture that and develop them into better ballplayers.
Lastly, I spoke with Ryan Schofield, one of their longer tenured players and he spoke about their season which featured travel to a number of high-level tournaments – most notably Texas.
