At Joe Nathan Field on Tuesday in the Boys of Summer 14u National Division Quarterfinal, Everett Zarzicki went the distance on the bump, and got in the first run of the game in a 3-0 Victory over Titans Baseball-Crema.
Right from the jump it felt like a traditional playoff game where 1 or 2 runs in a low-scoring game would make the difference for either side as Zarzicki K’d the first 2 batters he faced and then fielded a come backer to retire the side in order.
The Pride jumped on Titans’ starter Dylan Girard early as leadoff man Nicola Cespe got aboard on a 4-pitch walk. Cespe would steal second and then advance to third on a passed ball to set up Zarzicki, who was looking to help his cause with a runner 90 feet away. Zarzicki took a fastball on the outside corner to the opposite field, it dunked in for a hit and the Pride took a 1-0 lead, which was all the run support needed.

Titans Baseball would look to respond their next time up. Anthony Petrone, and Daniel Andriano got base knocks with one out but right after Zarzicki got a ground ball and his defense behind him turned a 6-4-3 double play and the opportunity went array.
Kings Park loaded the bases in the 4th. With 2 down, Matthew Rizzo, and Dylan Frers both trailed 0-2 in their respective at bats. They both battled and lined singles up the middle to extend the lead to 3-0.

One half inning later, Titans Baseball got runners on the corners to try to get on the board. A third to first move from Zarzicki wasn’t executed as he dropped the ball mid move. Dominick Witt broke for the plate and was cut down at home as Zarzicki fired home to get him.
In the final inning, Zarzicki picked up 2 more punch outs to end the game. He finished with 8 throughout his whole outing and secured the 3-0 victory.
Kings Park awaits their opponent for the Semifinal, which is scheduled for Thursday at Middle Country Park.
