by Andrew Barbieri

In the ECYB Stars and Stripes tournament, MB Thunder Select left no doubt in a dominant victory over South Shore Elite at Eisenhower Park.

The Thunder in the 1st inning continued to pass the baton to the next batter as they sent 12 batters to the plate in the opening frame. Nick Rugen, Daniel LaForest, Johnny Puglissi all contributed all picked up 1 RBI in the inning. Max Goodman, and Sean Barodin joined in with 2RBIs each with Barodin hitting a double to score 2 and Goodman had a chance to get 2 at bats during the 7-run rally, both times hitting singles.

Goodman would also start find success on the mound as well. He would punch out 4 batters, which gave enough time for the Thunder to recharge and strike again for another 5 in the 3rd

All 5 runs came with 2 outs in the inning, MJ Aparacio walked, swiped a couple of bags, and came home on another Goodman RBI. Rugan also put up another RBI when Goodman came around later. Nic Esposito continued to force the issue by getting a ball to fall into left field and make it 10-0. With Ryan Fiscella up, Rugen hustled home on a past ball, and Fiscella plated Esposito.

Goodman would walk a pair of batters up 12-0 in the bottom half of the inning, which would mark an end to his day on the bump. Will Hutchinson took over and inherited the 2 men on and gave up a single with 2 down to Nick Wosick. Hutchinson stay cool, calm, and collected to the next batter Joseph Collazo swinging to end the threat.

The 4th inning came as the potential last inning with the Thunder up by 12 and with a 5-3 double play, they closed the book on a 12-0 win.

The Thunder are now 2-0 in tournament with hopes of more winning to come.
