The annual Blue Chip Prospects Underclass Showcase will take place on Wednesday, June 21 at Mitchel Field in Uniondale – home of Molloy University.
The event has been extremely well attended by colleges over the past several years. Here are the schools that are committed and confirmed for the event:

Tom Downey of Blue Chip Prospects had the following to say regarding the importance of the event for high school athletes:
“Any event where colleges are paid to attend and watch adds a lot of value because in a large tournament format, even if a college coach is aggressive and sees four games per day over a 4 day span, he’s seeing at most 32 teams. If the tournament has a lot of teams, even if he’s really good, he’s seeing 1/3 of the teams. The value for a showcase is very good.”

Additionally, the importance is heightened when considering the competition to be seen by college coaches in this era.
“For an underclass event, it can be a coming out party for a player that hasn’t been seen by college coaches yet. Blue chip events have been greatly attended for the last 25 years. The reputation from college coaches is that it’s organized and it attracts the best local players in the region.”
From the perspective of Axcess Baseball, it’s certainly importance to identify who the top players across Long Island are early in their high school career. We will be covering the event on social media and writing a post event recap on the top performers in attendance.
