GAME RECAP: Sean Britt Slugs South Side To A 10-3 Playoff Win Over Roslyn

by Eddie Lennon

As the #3 seed in Nassau County Class A, South Side came into today’s game looking to make a statement. Between their ace, Justin Peralta, being dominant on the bump and Sean Britt’s explosive bat leading the Cyclones’ offense, South Side was in control through all seven innings.

Queen College-commit Justin Peralta had great control of all his pitches on the mound today. His fastball was overpowering and his breaking balls were out pitches when he needed them. Peralta tossed five innings for South Side, striking out six batters and allowing three runs. Peralta was not perfect today, but he was strong enough to earn the win behind his teams’ relentless offense.

After the first two Cyclones reached safely, Towson-commit Sean Britt launched a three-run home run to right center to make the lead 3-0 in the bottom the first. This set the tone early for South Side to take control and nothing changed through the whole game. Britt went 2-2, adding an RBI double in the bottom of the 4th. Britt also had two intentional walks. He was on fire today and Roslyn wanted to avoid him when they could. South Side stayed hot, scoring three in the first, one in the second, five in the fourth, and one in the fifth. Their bats did not stop and it really opened up the game for the Cyclones, who never took a first inning lead and kept it.

Roslyn had Lucas Weisser take the mound for them and he had a strong control of the zone with all of his pitches. His off-speed was consistently hitting the zone.

South Side was fortunate to get the win and will be taking on Garden City at home tomorrow. Britt and the rest of the Cyclones look to keep the momentum going and look to create some noise this postseason.
