Stony Brook 5, Elon 18
It was a night to forget for Stony Brook, as they were defeated 18-5 by host Elon University. The game was actually 1-0 entering the bottom of the fifth before the Phoenix offense exploded for two runs in the fifth, seven in the sixth, three in the seventh and five in the eighth innings. Evan Giordano led the way for the Seawolves, going 4-for-4, he now has 57 hits on the season. Evan Fox, Shane Paradine and Derek Yalon each had two hits as well. Josh O’Neill was tagged with the loss for Stony Brook. These two teams will be back in action today at 1pm.
St. John’s 2, Creighton 10
St. John’s fell to Creighton for a second straight game. Creighton had 16 hits and were the beneficiaries of 4 St. John’s errors. Jimmy Keenan had two hits for the Johnnies, who had 6 on the day. Dylan Johnson was tagged with the loss. He went 3 innings and was tagged with 4 runs. They did get some valuable length from Tim Cunningham who went three innings in relief. Game 3 of the series will be this afternoon in Omaha at 12pm.
Hofstra
Game 1: Hofstra 5, Northeastern 14
Game 2: Hofstra 1, Northeastern 8
Second baseman Santino Rosso got things started for the Pride with an RBI single to give them an early lead in the opening frame. The Huskies put up a four spot in the second half of the frame which was kickstarted with a solo blast by third baseman Danny Crossen. Hofstra got on the scoresheet in the second with an RBI double by center fielder Dylan Palmer and again in the third off a solo home run by catcher Kevin Bruggeman which closed the Northeastern lead to just one. The Huskies got one run back in the fourth but Hofstra responded once again in the sixth by scoring on a wild pitch which kept it at a one score game. However, Northeastern put up six runs in the sixth inning which put this game out of reach. Following multiple RBI doubles, a two-run blast by left fielder Alex Lane broke this game open.
Northeastern had complete control of the second game as well, and did so by putting up seven consecutive runs across six innings. Four homeruns did most of the damage, courtesy of center fielder Mike Sirota (1 RBI), right fielder Cam Maldonado who hit two (totaling 3 RBI) and third baseman Danny Crossen (2 RBI). The Pride scored their lone run in the eighth off a solo shot by first baseman Zach Bailey. Jake Gigliotti, the winning pitcher was dominant in this one as he threw six shutout innings with eight punchouts and only surrendered two hits. Hofstra will take a trip to Brookville to take on LIU on Tuesday at 1:00 PM EST.
Fordham

LIU 8, Merrimack 13
Both teams got on the board in the first inning. Shortstop Alex Haba hit a run-scoring single and designated hitter Jake Mastillo hit a solo shot to tie things up for the Sharks. The Warriors put up four runs in the following frame which was highlighted by a two-run triple by center fielder Scott Elliott. Left fielder Carlton Harper got one run back for LIU in the third with an RBI single. Merrimack would then put five runs across the fifth and sixth inning which was highlighted by yet another two-run triple, this time by right fielder Christian Gemelli. Shortstop Jack Power got the Sharks back on the board with a solo homerun in the bottom half of the sixth. LIU kept their momentum rolling in the eighth with a five spot, thanks to an RBI base on balls and a grand slam courtesy of second baseman Christopher Hund. Merrimack would pull away in the ninth, however, tallying three insurance runs. The rubber match will take place Sunday at 1:00 PM EST.
Division-II:
Game 1: Queens 5, Mercy 11
Game 2: Queens 5, Mercy 3
The Mavericks opened the scoring in the third inning with three RBI singles, one each by center fielder Jaden Caballero, third baseman Noah Giblin, and catcher Justin Glennerster. Queens got on the board in the fourth, then put up four more in the fifth inning which gave them the lead. Andrew Ramirez, Matt Filip, Juan De La Rosa, Colin Diez all hit RBI singles during this stretch (Ramirez did it twice). However, after this stretch, Mercy put up seven consecutive runs to put this one away. Giblin capped this one off with another RBI single and then initiated a throwing error which brought in the final run of the game.
In the second game, Queens got on the board first with a two-run triple by Filip in the opening frame. Mercy countered this with a run scoring single in the bottom half of the frame. The bats went quiet, but in the fifth Queens registered a fielder’s choice and then added onto it in the sixth off an RBI groundout. Mercy quickly got one run back in the sixth off a fielder’s choice. Both teams traded runs in the seventh but Queens was able to shut the door to prevent the rally. Queens looks to keep the momentum going Sunday against Mercy at 12:00 PM EST.
Adelphi
Game 1: Adelphi 6, Bentley 3
Game 2: Adelphi 9. Bentley 4
Adelphi honored their 1993 College World Series Champions today and did not disappoint by sweeping the double header against Bentley University.
The Falcons got on board first in the opener in the second inning of an RBI single and a fielder’s choice. The Panthers bounced back by putting up three in the bottom half of the frame which began with an RBI double by shortstop Jack Wishner and capped the scoring with a two-run ground-rule double by center fielder Cooper Johnson. Then in the third, Adelphi added onto their lead with a one-run single by catcher Alec Maag. Bentley got back on the scoresheet in the fifth by reaching on an error but could not match Adelphi, who scored an insurance run in the sixth thanks to a fielder’s choice initiated by Maag.
In the second game, the Panthers did not waste any time and got out to an early four run lead in the first inning which was highlighted by a three-run blast by left fielder Kyle Olson. Olson then hit a two-run single in the second inning to add to their lead. The Falcons got on the board in the third and fourth inning but couldn’t keep up with the fireworks from the Adelphi bats on this special day. The Panthers would put up two more runs in the fifth thanks to an RBI double by catcher Jose Matos and an RBI groundout by designated hitter Joe Pasqua. Adelphi takes a trip to Flushing to take on Queens on Tuesday at 3:00 PM EST.
Molloy 13, D’Youville 3
Molloy grabbed an early two-run lead in the first inning off two RBI singles, one each by third baseman Gavin McAlonie and first baseman Jake McCarthy. The Lions added to their lead in the fifth off a two-run double by shortstop Aidan Larkin. D’Youville got on the board in the fifth off a sacrifice fly and again in the sixth with an RBI single to cut the Molloy lead down to only two. In the eighth, the Molloy bats erupted with a nine spot which put this one way out of reach. Second baseman Robby Keane opened things up with a run-scoring single and designated hitter Sean Welsh capped things off a three-run shot. Mike Andreoli continued his winning ways, improving to a strong 6-0 record on the season with seven innings of two-run ball. This four-game set will wrap on Sunday at 12:00 PM EST.
Division-III:
Farmingdale
Farmingdale 0, Massachusetts Dartmouth 5
The Corsairs got on the board first in the fourth inning with an RBI groundout and RBI single by third baseman Andrew Possi. In the sixth, Massachusetts doubled their lead with a two-run blast by left fielder Andrew Bryant and then in the eighth, Possi hit his second RBI single to bring in the fifth and final run of the game. Ryan Qualey was the star in this matchup today, throwing a complete game shutout and tallying five punchouts along the way. The Rams will play a double header Sunday against Yeshiva starting at 11:00 AM.
St. Joseph’s
Mike DiFilippo crushed a walk-off HR in the bottom of the 13th to propel St. Joseph’s-LI to a 4-3 win over St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn. SJC-LI went on to win Game 2 as well and have won 12 games in a row and are 22-3 pic.twitter.com/jzjJ5h5iuU

The Golden Eagles struck first in this one off an RBI groundout. The Bears grabbed the lead in the third inning off two RBI singles and then added to it in the sixth off a solo shot by first baseman Sean Schneeberg. The Golden Eagles responded in the bottom of the sixth with a two-run double by shortstop Ryan Decoursey which tied the game at three a piece. The bats went quiet all the way until the thirteenth frame. There the Golden Eagles won it in heroic fashion with a walk-off solo blast by shortstop Mike DiFilippo.
The Bears jumped on the scoreboard early in the second game with an RBI single in the opening frame. The Golden Eagles responded with a five spot in the bottom half of the frame which was capped off with a grand slam by third baseman James Maggio. The Bears then countered by scoring twice in both the second and third innings which evened the score. After that, the Golden Eagles were flying high and scored seven consecutive runs. Maggio got this run going with a two-run blast, and then following a fielder’s choice and wild pitch, both Phil Krapata and Paul Gugliuzzo connected with RBI singles. The Golden Eagles will welcome Old Westbury for a double-header Sunday beginning at 11:00 AM EST.
Maritime
Game 1: Maritime 5, Mount St. Vincent 1
Game 2: Maritime 4, Mount St. Vincent 23
The Dolphins scored their lone run of the first game in the opening frame off a solo blast by third baseman Drew Knight. First baseman Rob Copozzi tied things up in the fourth with a solo shot of his own and designated hitter Vasilios Vafakos brought in the eventual winning run off a single. Matt Milone put the dagger in this one in the fifth frame with a two-run double.
The Dolphins struck first again in the second game and kept punishing Maritime pitchers all day as they tallied twenty three runs. Left fielder Will Granata brought in seven runs and both first baseman/third baseman Drew Knight and second baseman Jake Pierre both brought in three. Saint John the Baptist alumni Matt Milone continued to lead the Maritime offense and hit a three-run blast in the third inning. There will be another local Division III showdown Sunday when Maritime travels to Kings Point for a double-header against USMMA beginning at 12:00 PM EST.
USMMA
Game 1: USMMA 4, Purchase 5
Game 2: USMMA 6, Purchase 21
Purchase got out to an early four-run lead in the first innings which was kickstarted by a three-run blast by designated hitter Joe Salerno. USMAA fought back and did so with a two-run home run by second baseman Ernest Darling in the second inning. However, an RBI single in the sixth put Purchase ahead by two and USMAA could not complete the comeback and fell just short in the seventh frame. Myles Scarry threw a complete game (seven innings) with ten punchouts along the way.
In the second game, Purchase once again got out to an early lead, this time thanks to a three-run blast by left fielder Patrick Reyes. After that, USMAA took complete control of this one. Shortstop Jared Chambers led the way with a five RBI performance, and center fielder Joey Zanetti put up an unbelievable eight RBI showing.
Old Westbury
Game 1: Old Westbury 10, Mount St. Mary 2
Game 2: Old Westbury 5, Mount St. Mary 8
The Panthers got out to an early five-run lead in the first inning which was opened with an RBI triple by center fielder John Dell’Olio. Westbury would tack on three more in the third off an RBI base on balls and a two-run single by left fielder Jacob Taormina. The Panthers would then put this one away by tallying two more runs in the sixth. Justin Aviles led the way with a complete game (seven innings) with an impressive eight strikeouts.
Wesbury got out to an early lead again in the second game via an RBI single by backstop Charlie Eisele in the second inning. Mount St. Mary took the lead in the fifth but Westbury responded with a solo shot in the sixth by Jamal Ritter and an RBI single by Oscar Fajardo. St. Mary then grabbed the lead in the seventh off a four-run inning which was started by a solo blast by backstop Robert Brust. They then put up two more runs in the eighth to add to their lead which put this one away.
