Despite never trailing, Yeti Baseball was fighting to hold off a comeback attempt in the top of the 6th inning against the North Shore Giants.
Yeti would draw first blood in this one and take a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning. Michael Crispo would draw a bases loaded walk to give his team the early lead.
Yeti would jump out to a comfortable 6-0 lead in the 2nd inning. Tyler O’Sullivan got the scoring started as he hit an RBI single to make it 2-0 Yeti. Jackson Dassau made it 3-0 with an RBI groundout. O’Sullivan would score on a passed ball to make it 3-0 Yeti.
Max Dalton made a great hustle play on the basepaths, he scored from second on an infield hit, catching the Giants sleeping, but more importantly, he pushed the score to a 5-0 Yeti lead. The 6th and final run scored on a passed ball gave Yeti a 6 run cushion heading into the 3rd inning.
The Giants started to chip away in the 3rd as Luke Mayola hit an RBI single to make it a 7-1 lead. A throwing error by the Yeti third baseman with two outs in the 3rd allowed Mayola to score from second and Ryan Leek to reach base to cut Yeti’s lead to 6-2.
Mickey Crispo got one of the runs back for Yeti in the bottom of the 3rd with an RBI single to center field to make the score 7-2. On the play, Dylan Massari showed off the cannon of an arm he has by throwing out a runner at third, taking away a first and third situation with one out that could’ve broken this game open.
We wouldn’t see much action until the top of the 6th inning in this one. The Giants began their comeback attempt as Ryan Leek hit an RBI single to make it 7-3. Dylan Massari made it 7-4 with an RBI single of his own.
Unfortunately for the Giants, that would be it. They would put runners in scoring position with two outs, but Yeti got the ground ball out they needed to end the game and escape with a 7-4 victory.
