B1 Seminoles Kick Off Columbus Day Tourney with Walk-Off Win

by Brian Honka

The B1 Seminoles-Timpone took on Dodgers Nation-Byalick in the 13u Columbus Day Tournament.

B1 got on the scoreboard early as they got a run across on a single and back-to-back stolen bases by their leadoff hitter Charles Lamarca who would come home on a wild pitch.

Both pitchers would be lights out the first 3 innings as each pitcher only allowed 1 base runner. Until Dodgers Nation was able to take the lead 2-1 on back-to-back fielder’s choices in the top of the 4th.

B1 coming up in the bottom of the 5th inning running out of time were able to load the basses and get a timely hit from James Richardson that gave them the lead back 3-2.

The game was able to continue into the 6th with 2 minutes left before the game was called due to the time limit.

Dodgers Nation would be able to tie the game up on a flyball that dropped in centerfield.

With the game now tied in the bottom of the 6th inning and the time limit reached B1000 came up with a chance to walk off. Leadoff man Charles Lamarca would once again get on base with a single and steal a second on the next pitch.

Dodgers Nation would make a pitching change. Before the first pitch, the new Dodger Nation pitcher tried to pick the runner off from second base but was called for a balk which gave B1000 a runner on 3rd and no outs.

Courtney Campbell gets ahead in the count by 2-0. With the 2-0 pitch on the way, he gets one up in the zone which he lifted out to centerfield just deep enough for the runner to tag and score from 3rd giving the B1000 Seminoles the victory in the opening game of the Columbus Day Tournament.
