LI Thunder Dominate in 10-0 Win

by Nick Cipolla

In the top of the first inning, it seemed like the LI Thunder had this one wrapped up, the only question was how long would the game last.

The Thunder jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first when David Spina scored from third on a play where a runner from first ended up getting picked off. Will Jackson made it 2-0 with an RBI double to deep right field.

The Thunder made it 3-0 in the second inning on an RBI infield single by Thomas Farrish

David Spina made it 4-0 when he scored from third on a play where the catcher threw behind him trying to pick him off. However, Spina broke for the plate and scored before the return throw was made.

The Thunder got four runs in the fourth to make it 8-0. The first two scored on a wild pitch that awkwardly hit the front of the plate and bounced away from the catcher. The third run scored on a Nick Calcaterra RBI single to make it 7-0 and he would later score on an RBI single from Tyler Raynor to make it 8-0 Thunder.

The Thunder would hit the 10 run mercy threshold in the fifth when Nick Calcaterra got his second and third RBI’s of the game when he crushed a double to deep left field. The Thunder would go back out into the field in the bottom of the fifth and secured the victory.
