Eastern A’s put up 13 Runs against the Tri-Hamlet Colonials

by Nick Cipolla

The Eastern A’s made a statement to the rest of the JV Division in the Town of Brookhaven September Showdown last night in a 13-1 beatdown of the Tri-Hamlet Colonials.

The A’s attacked early and often, scoring runs at will and putting this game out of reach early. The scoring started in the bottom of the first, after both leadoff runners reached, the A’s executed a double steal of second and home to make it 1-0 A’s. Christian Cox made it 2-0 A’s on a sac fly to center.

The A’s broke this one open with a big 7 run second inning. Matthew Diowitz got the party started with an RBI Single to make it 3-0 A’s. Kevin Forrester hit an RBI Single of his own between short and third to make it 4-0 A’s.

The big hit this inning was delivered by Cole Johnson when he crushed a 3 run double into the right center gap to make it 7-0 A’s. Johnson had a big day at the bat for the Eastern A’s, he went 3-3 with two singles, a double, and 5 RBI’s in the mercy rule shortened game.

Michael Glass knocked in another run on an E5 to make it 8-0. Christian Cox knocked in Glass with his second RBI of the game, this time he had an RBI Single to right to make it 9-0 A’s.

The A’s would get three more runs in the third. A bases loaded walk made it 11-0 and Cole Johnson got RBI’s number 4 and 5 of the game when he hit a perfectly placed single just over the third baseman’s head in short right field to make it 13-0.

The Colonials got one run in the fourth on an RBI single to left from Ryan Pletman but the A’s would avoid any further damage and secure the final three outs to secure a mercy rule victory in four innings
