The Farmingdale Greendogs defeated the Syosset Braves by the score of 8-6 to capture the 12u National Labor Day Bash. They are one of the top town teams on Long Island and continue to win tournaments.
The Braves took a quick 1-0 lead on an RBI single by Mason Mifsud on a rocket up the middle to score Alex Metaxas.
The lead did not last long, though, as the Greendogs responded with a four-spot in the second inning. Gabe Cepeda got things going with a triple to left field and scored on Cole Ferraiolo‘s RBI single to RF. Cole stole second and Dominic Kloepping drew a walk. James Shelley followed with a two-run triple and scored on a dropped third strike in the following at bat.
To their credit, the Braves did not go down quietly.
They answered with three runs of their own in the third inning. Starting pitcher Tyler Roth led the inning off with a double and Cameron Weiskopf drew a walk. After a popout to first, Noah Flax ripped a two-run triple to make it 5-3 and Morgan Korn followed with an RBI triple to right to make it 5-4. They were unable to punch across the run, as the next two batters were retired.
The Greendogs brought in ace Logan Tyler in relief to keep the Braves at bay, and it worked out very well for them as he also allowed his offense to tack on insurance runs.

Braden Cloghessy ripped an RBI triple to score Jake Shevlin to make it 6-4 and he scored on an E1 to make it 7-4.
They later added another run in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Dom Kloepping to score Cole Ferraiolo.
In the home half of the sixth, the Braves did threaten to tie it up. Korn led off with a triple to right field and he scored on an RBI ground out off the bat of Michael Polidoro. A pair of walks and an E2 allowed another run to score to make it 8-6, but Tyler was able to bear down and induce a ground out as well as a strikeout of the last batter to record the final out and seal the victory.
