Michael Jazylo had a performance many kids dream of having when pitching in a championship game in tonight’s Boys of Summer 16u National Championship game against LIB Select
Jazylo was a big reason why Batting 1.000 Seminoles Skoller were victorious, he threw a complete game, allowed one unearned run to cross the plate, made an incredible play with the glove to turn a double play, and struck out 10 batters in a 5-1 victory.
The Seminoles offensive attack also played a big part in this game. Once they got an early lead, it seemed like the game was over
In a first and third situation with two outs in the second inning, Sean Stoney scored from third when the LIB Select pitcher threw over to first, catching the base runner leaving a bit early and getting himself into a rundown allowing Stoney to score to make it a 1-0 game.
In the bottom of the third, Nick Apollo stepped to the plate with men on second and third. He proceeded to hit a sac fly to deep left field to make it a 2-0 game. AJ Sainsbury made it 3-0 on an infield single that snuck past the pitcher and was able to make it to first without a throw..
LIB Select got one run back in the top of the fifth to make it 3-1 thanks to Vincent McCartney reaching on an E7 with two outs, allowing a runner from second to score.
That would end up being the only run LIB would get off of Michael Jazylo as he was cruising from that point on. Jazylo got some more insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning thanks to Mario Garcia’s RBI Hit by Pitch with the bases loaded and a Troy DeFrancesco RBI fielder’s choice to make it a 5-1 game.

Jazylo would let a runner on in the top of the 7th, but he would strike out 2 batters, including the final out of the game to secure the Boys of Summer 16u National Championship and one last big hurrah for the Seminoles before school starts back up in a few weeks and Summer baseball unfortunately ends.
It was an exciting year in the 16u National division, and hopefully the fall season can be just as exciting for Long Island Baseball
