The Ducks close it out on Yeti Baseball, inducing a groundout to end it. Each team added another run apiece, but it did not make a difference in the outcome.

A 14u Boys of Summer matchup between Yeti Baseball and the Long Island Junior Ducks took place at Newfield High School on Saturday afternoon. Both teams have had similar seasons thus far, so a competitive game was expected.
Nick Hoffman took the mound for the Ducks. The righty with a downer curveball made it look easy in the first inning, promptly throwing a hitless frame. The Duck bats showed they were there to play, jumping out to an early 4-0 lead via hits from Jacob Abzug and Bradley Fruchter as well as walks from Ryan Quinn, Owen Kruger, Andrew Gaudioso, Ryan Scheinman, and Ben Vallario. Michael Kordecki relieved Yeti starter Ben Ferrero, who did not make it out of the first inning.
After a scoreless second inning, the Yetis fought back in the third. A pair of hits to start the inning followed by a double from Ryan DeLuca cut the deficit to 4-2. Hoffman bounced back, however, retiring Logan Brid via a pop out to end the threat.
The next scoring change came in the bottom of the fourth in an unusual way as the Ducks did not record a hit in the inning. Kordecki retired Ryan Scheinman and Bradley Fruchter before walking Ben Vallario and Yendry Hernandez. A series of wild pitches allowed Scheinman to score, but Hernandez was thrown out at the plate attempting to score in a similar fashion. Ryan DeLuca added to his big day with another run-scoring double in the top of the fifth, scoring Liam Loughlin who reached via the base on balls. The Ducks added an insurance run in the bottom of the inning as a walk and a couple stolen bases allowed a run to score on a passed ball, making it a 6-3 game.
Yeti Baseball threatened in the top of the sixth, drawing three walks and scoring a run from a Michael Kordecki single. This rally was to no avail as the next batter, Ferrero, struck out to end the game. The final score was 6-4 in favor of the Ducks as they took game one of the doubleheader.
