LIB Vengeance Dominates Doubleheader vs Islip Owls

Game 1:

The LIB Vengeance bats didn’t waste much time in game one against the Islip Owls as they scored 4 runs before the Owls were able to get anyone out in the bottom of the first.

After a leadoff triple by Matthew Rosenberg, Mike Kenjesky got the first run on the board with an RBI single right up the middle to make it 1-0. Evan Schneir made it 3-0 with a 2-run single up the middle and Daron Lake hit an RBI single of his own to make it 4-0 LIB Vengeance.

In the bottom of the second, Will Kenjesky hit a sac fly to make it 5-0 LIB Vengeance. In the third, a pair of bases loaded walks by Anthony Biviano and Kamran Quershi made it 7-0 LIB Vengeance.

The last of LIB Vengeance runs to score came on an RBI single to right by Matthew Rosenberg, who had a great doubleheader with the bat, to make it 8-0.

Pitching wise, Mike Kenjesky threw a complete game (5 inning) shutout, only allowing one hit in the first game. He was a big reason why his team was able to reach the 8 run after 5 inning mercy rule in Game 1.

Game 2:

LIB Vengeance had a moment when they were down in this one but they managed to get the bats going and never look back.

LIB took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI single by Evan Schneir. But the Islip Owls would double their run total from Game 1 in the bottom of the first.

With two outs and men on second and third, Bradyn Liebowitz struck out but the LIB catcher did not catch the third strike cleanly and Liebowitz beat out the throw to first base to extend the inning and also allowing Shane Mikos to score from third on the play to tie the game at 1.

The next batter, Dylan Welsh hit an RBI infield single to make it a 2-1 game in favor of the Owls.

Welsh, the starting pitcher for game 2 for the Owls, came out in the second inning and recorded a huge two out strikeout to strand a runner at second to keep the score at 2-1 in favor of the Owls.

Unfortunately for the Owls, the lead wouldn’t last for long. Will Kenjesky came up in the third inning with two runners on and he capitalized as he hit a go-ahead 2 run triple to make it a 3-2 game in favor of LIB Vengeance. Kenjesky would score a few pitches later on a passed ball to make it 4-2 LIB Vengeance.

In the same inning, Brendan Draude crushed a ball to left field that one hopped over the wall for a ground rule double and knocked in another run to make it 5-2 LIB. Darude would later score on a Daron Lake infield single to make it 6-2 LIB.

The Owls would get one more run thanks to a Luca Centaruo sac fly to deep center, making it a 6-3 game.

It would be all LIB from here on out. In the 5th, Logan Hanovich hit a sac fly on an infield fly to first base to make it 7-3. Josh Polinsky rounded out the scoring with an RBI single to make it 8-3 LIB Vengeance.

LIB Vengeance got three masterful innings of relief from Matthew Roseneberg and Brendan Draude. Rosenberg struck out 4 batters in two innings of work for LIB and Drarude came in for the last inning to seal the deal for LIB Vengeance.
