Brian Baek Leads LI Storm to 9-1 Victory

by Nick Cipolla

Brian Baek was a one-man band today in LI Storm’s victory over the LI Titans-Patane. He was 3-for-3 at the plate and he knocked in 4 of the 10 runs that crossed the plate for the Storm.

Baek got it started early for the Storm in the bottom of the first as he knocked in leadoff man Roy Longarzo with an RBI single to make it 1-0 Storm.

LI Storm made it 2-0 on a George Demacopoulous double deep into the right center gap. Immediately after Demacopoulous hit his RBI double, Ryan Foerst, the LI Storm starting pitcher, hit an RBI double of his own to give the Storm an early 3-0 lead.

The Storm didn’t get another run until the 3rd when Brian Baek flexed his muscle some more as he absolutely crushed a ball over the double fenced left field wall to make it 5-0 Storm.

The Titans did get a run in the 4th on a John O’Hara RBI Double but that would be all they would get.

In the bottom of the 5th, Roy Longarzo had an RBI Single of his own to make it 6-1 Storm. Brian Baek got his 4th RBI of the game on a bloop single to right field to make it 7-1. George Demacopoulous made it 8-1 with an RBI single right back up the middle, knocking in Baek for the second time today.

In the 6th, the Storm sent Santino Sinicola up to the plate with a chance to walk it off via mercy rule. Sinicola pulled through with a 2-run single past second base to give his team a mercy rule victory and securing a playoff spot in the Blue Chip Prospects Summer Series Tournament.
