The LI Nor’easters managed to snuff out a late comeback attempt made by the Seminoles to hold on to win 6-5. This game was compelling with just about everything you could want, from small ball, to homeruns, to middle-inning dominant pitching both teams showed it off.
The Nor’easters were swinging away right from the top of the first with a barrage of hits. Marc Cisco laced an RBI triple, Mike Manetta hit a sacrifice fly, and Jake McCarthy and Myles Vazquez joined in with back-to-back RBI singles. It was a quick jump out to a four-run lead off starter Mike Pokorny. The Seminoles were quick to make a pitching change and called on Mike Losak to put an end to the damage and bridge the gap to the later innings.
Moving on over to the bottom of the first inning, the starting pitcher for the Nor’easter’s, Myles Vazquez struggled with some of his control and allowed a bases loaded walk to Brendan Eising to bring the score to 4-1. He would limit the damage and get out of the inning on the next hitter.
The Seminoles continued to make some noise over the second and third innings of this game. Mike Losak would strike out the side in the top of the second inning and continue to keep his team in the game. Andrew Park would cut the Nor’easter’s lead in half with an opposite field laser over the left field wall. The Seminoles would continue to ride this momentum into the bottom of the fifth where Nick Ramos would drop in a ball for an RBI single to cut the lead down even more. Following the single up he would steal second base and an overthrow from the catcher would allow the game tying run to score making it a 4-4 ballgame.
Marc Cisco (Queens College) had a big day for the Nor’easters including two RBI hits with one of them being a go ahead double. Here he takes us in depth on what his approach is when he steps up the the plate what he looked for and how he doesn’t deviate from that plan. pic.twitter.com/KV3le8MGJ5

The duo of Marc Cisco and Mike Manetta would cause trouble yet again in the top half of the sixth as Cisco ripped a go-ahead RBI double into the gap followed by an RBI single from Manetta. The Nor’easters would yet again retake the lead with two insurance runs heading into the bottom half of the inning (due to time limit).
Anthony Mortimer was summoned in relief to look to close out the game with a victory. The Seminoles proceeded to create a lot of noise with three straight bunts with the first three batters to start the off the inning. With the bases loaded, the Seminoles would inch closer again, this time with a hit-by-pitch bringing them within a run. Mortimer would then induce a 1-2-3 double play thus squandering the comeback attempt and sealing the victory for the Nor’easters.
