Phenom Baseball held on to take their first game in the Blue Chip Invitational Tournament with a 3-2 Victory over Hitter’s Club. This game didn’t have much offense for each side yet both starters, Justin Nustad and Eric Corey, pitched incredibly well, limiting each other’s offenses.
In the bottom of the first, Phenom Baseball got on the board thanks to an RBI double by Anthony Probst. This game would remain 1-0 until the bottom half of the fourth inning where Anthony Probst would come up to the plate. He would go ahead and rip a single up the middle to give his team a 2-0 advantage over Hitter’s Club.
In the top of the fourth inning, Justin Nustad would bend but not break as he worked himself out of a second and third situation with a huge strikeout. He would go on to work through some more traffic in the top half of the fifth inning with a big thanks to center fielder, Holden Juliano, who robbed not only extra bases but also robbed Hitter’s Club from scoring.

In the bottom of the sixth, Juliano would add on with an RBI single giving Phenom a much-needed insurance run making it a 3-0 ballgame. Phenom would then call on Thomas Rorick to close this game out in the top of the seventh. Hitter’s Club did not go down without a fight and managed to scratch across two runs in the top of the seventh on a Steven Mulqueen RBI double and a run scored on a fielder’s choice before the final out was made. Ultimately Phenom Baseball held on to win and start out their tournament play with a win.
