There is one thing that will always be true about the game of baseball, anything can happen at any given moment throughout the game.
This wasn’t any ordinary Wednesday evening 14U game at PAL Stadium in Holbrook, New York. This game was one full of blown leads, comebacks, and clutch moments.
Both teams didn’t waste too much time early on as in the bottom of the first the Storm Chasers put runners on first and second with one out. Aviators starting pitcher Craig Burkhardt used his inside pickoff move to pick off a base runner and record the first out of the bottom half of the inning.
Luis Olivares would not waste a chance to put runs on the board as he hit an RBI single between third and short to make it 1-0 Storm Chasers.
The Aviators wouldn’t let that lead last for long, as Zane Chirco would come up in the top of the second with two runners on and two outs. Chirco would crush a 2-run base clearing double over the left fielder’s head to give the Aviators their first lead of the game at 2-1.

In the bottom of the second, the Storm Chasers tied the game at 2 on a throwing error on the Aviators shortstop. Justin Chong broke the 2-2 tie with an RBI single past the third baseman to give the Storm Chasers a 3-2 lead.
In the bottom of the third, the Storm Chasers added two more runs to their lead, one via a passed ball and the other run came across on an RBI single by Anthony Giangrasso. The Storm Chasers jumped out to their largest lead of the game as they took a 5-2 lead into the top of the fourth.
The Aviators kept chipping away at the Storm Chasers three run lead as Tyler Horrigan hit an RBI single to make the score 5-3 in the top of the fourth. In the 5th inning, Camden Wallace singled, stole second, and scored on an error by the Storm Chasers shortstop to make it 5-4 Aviators.
With the time limit approaching fast, the Aviators needed to get three quick outs to guarantee a 6th inning of baseball, with that in mind, Jackson Seifert made sure there would be no doubt of whether the time limit will come up or not as he got three quick outs and the 6th inning began before the time limit was reached (Boys of Summer rules states that you can’t start an inning after 1 hour and 50 minutes after the first pitch was thrown).
The Aviators did not disappoint the fans who stuck around for this one, A.J Fabizio lead the inning off with a double and later found himself at third base after stealing third during a Cooper Daniels walk. Tyler Horrigan was hit by a pitch which loaded the bases and there were no outs.
A.J Fabizio would end up scoring from third on a passed ball to tie the game at 5. With one out and men on second and third, Zane Chirco stepped to the plate again with a chance to give his team the lead. Chirco did give his team the lead by putting the ball in play by hitting a ground ball to first base. The first baseman threw home and Cooper Daniels came sliding into home plate scoring the go-ahead run as the catcher forgot to tag Daniels out at the plate. This play gave the Aviators the lead back as they now led 6-5.

The Aviators got a much-needed insurance run as Tyler Horrigan scored from third on a wild pitch to make it a 7-5 lead for the East End Aviators heading into the bottom of the 6th.
The Storm Chasers didn’t go away quietly as KJ Osorio walked to lead off the bottom of the 6th, stole second, advanced to third on a Justin Chong sacrifice fly, and scored on a passed ball to cut the Aviators lead to one run.
Despite a Luis Olivares two out single and stolen base, the tying run was stranded at second base as Jackson Seifert put the final nail in the coffin when he struck out the very next batter to end the game.
The East End Aviators secured their second win of the season as they hope to turn this momentum from tonight’s win into some more wins throughout the summer season. The Storm Chasers drop their first game of the season but look to bounce back on Thursday against the LI Titans Labartino
