Matt Rosenberg and LIB-Vengeance overcame an early 1-0 lead and defeated B1000 Seminoles on Thursday night at the PAL Complex on a perfect evening for baseball. The Plainedge sophomore fired five strong innings and even contributed a sac fly at the plate to get his offense going in the third inning.
The game was played at a brisk pace – it was completed in just over 90 minutes thanks to strong pitching on both sides. B1000 Seminoles sent Ryan Kenny to the hill to oppose Rosenberg and both pitchers had their good stuff going. The game was scoreless through two innings, although LIB was able to get a runner to third with 1 out in the home half of the first but he was stranded there on an infield pop out and a comebacker to the mound.
The Seminoles got on the board in the third inning. Justin Bifone ripped a double and scored on Lucas Baquero’s single to left field to make it 1-0. Michael Castellani added a single of his own, but the rally was thwarted on a force out and fly out to right field.

In the home half of the third, LIB answered right back when Mike Keniesky drew a leadoff walk. Darren Lake ripped a double but a perfect relay nailed Keniesky at the plate for the first out. Rosenberg was able to drive in Lake, though, on a sac fly to left field to make it a 1-1 game.
Rosenberg went back out in the fourth and worked around a leadoff single by Matteo Fortney to keep the lead in tact.
In the ensuing inning, Evan Schneir got the rally started with a 1-out double down the left field line. He scored on an RBI single by Qureshi and Lucas Vesely followed with a run-scoring single of his own. That was all the scoring for the day. Rosenberg was able to work in-and-out of trouble in the fifth, stranding the bases loaded with a strikeout of Anthony Sartori.
Evan Schneir came on in relief and fired a scoreless sixth inning – working around a HBP and an E6 to keep the opposition at bay. He slammed the door with a scoreless seventh inning as well.
