The Roslyn Bulldogs and Long Island Storm got together on Saturday for a doubleheader, with Roslyn coming out on top in both games with scores of 10-8 and 9-7. The two teams battled through harsh elements at Eisenhower Park, as there were multiple weather delays, including a delay for a brief shower of hail.
The Storm got on the board first in game one on a rally that started with a single from Vincent Sartorelli. He moved to third base after a single from Gunnar Nelson and a walk from Antonio Impennato, and he scored on an RBI groundout from Peter Hamilton.
Roslyn set an aggressive tone on the base paths, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first. They scored their first run on an RBI single from Luke Brooks, and then scored three on passed balls. They added another four runs in the bottom of the third inning thanks to the same aggressive base running they employed throughout the doubleheader. Their top four hitters in the lineup, Cole Siskin, Brooks, Cole Kanover, and Ben Graziani scored in this inning.
In the third inning, the Storm put together another rally to score a run on a pair of extra base hits. With one out, Sartorelli hit a double to center field. He came across a batter later, as Nelson hit an RBI triple to center field as well. Both Sartorelli and Nelson played well in both ends of the doubleheader at the plate and in the field. As the catcher, Sartorelli threw out multiple runners on the bases, and Nelson made an impressive play at shortstop in the second game.
In the fourth inning, Roslyn scored another pair of runs on the base paths, with Liam Edelstein and Siskin scoring on passed balls to give them a 10-4 lead.
The Storm put together a strong rally in the top of the fifth inning, playing with a lot of patience at the plate. Out of the first six batters of the inning, five of them drew walks and four of them scored. The first run of the inning was scored on a walk from Antonio Castagna. After the walk, one of the delays occurred, as hail began to come down. When play resumed, the Storm used aggressive baserunning to score three more runs and cut the deficit to 10-8. Roslyn got out of the jam, however, getting two consecutive outs to Siskin at shortstop to end the game and secure the win.

Game 2
Roslyn started the second game like they ended the first, with Siskin and Kanover scoring in the first inning to give them a 2-0 lead. They added another four runs in the second inning, including an RBI double from Brooks to give them the early 6-0 lead.
The Storm began to bounce back, scoring a run in the second inning and three more in the fourth inning. Gustav Wu scored two runs in this stretch, including scoring on an RBI single by Marco Lazo. This cut the deficit to 6-4.
The two teams went back and forth in the latter half of the game, starting with a three-run inning from Roslyn. Both Brooks and Jax Steinberg got hits in this inning and scored, along with Josh Adler. The Storm responded with two runs of their own from Ian Miller and Charles Tricarico.
Down 9-6 in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Storm scored a run on a one-out RBI single from Wu. Once again, the defense from Roslyn came up big to stifle the rally, inducing a strike ‘em out, throw ‘em out double play to end the game and earn the sweep in exciting fashion.
