Over the next several weeks we will be highlighting the top performing travel teams from 2021. First up is Team Francisco 16u Select, coached by Joe Fusco. Below are some of their team accomplishments.

• Ranked 60th in country by Perfect Game

• Won PG Super 25 Super Qualifier beating 3 nationally ranked teams at the time (SJ Young Guns #41 at time, Virginia Stars and Bronx Bombers)
• Went to PG in Florida. Lost championship game of Freedom Classic PG Florida to Royals Scout team 3-2
• Played in BCS NATL CHAMPIONSHIP in Florida. Went 6-0. Was number 2 seed out of over 100 teams. Beat Dodgers Scout team (nationally ranked #65 in country at time) in round of 16. Lost in Quarterfinals. Ended Florida trip 12-2
• Went to Virginia PG Coastal World Series. Went to Championship game. Beat Richmond Braves 2 times (nationally ranked 55 at time). Lost in championship to Five Star NC 4-2 (ranked 20th in the country at time)
• Went 11-1 in Fall. Including Wins against MA Show (ranked 89th country) and Team Francisco Notorious 9 (ranked 90th in country)
• Lost in Championship of PG Mid Atlantic Elite Championship.
• Won 16u PG New England World Series
• 2 PG Championships
• Made Championship in 5 of 9 PG Tournaments
In terms of the individual performers, here are some:
• Jace Alvino (West Babylon ’25) was Named MVP pitcher Of PG Super 25 Super Qualifier. Also named MVP Player of Fall PG Mid Atlantic Elite Championship. Batted 306. With 2 HR and 30 RBI. 4-0 on Mound, 49 IP only allowed 33 hits. Fastball up to 85.
• Thomas O’Neill (Farmingdale ’23) was Named MVP Pitcher of PG New England World Series. 6-2 record, 68 IP, 85 K’s. Beat 4 Nationally Ranked Teams. Fastball up to 85.
