Ynoa Shines on the Mound in 4-0 Win in Tournament Championship

by Nicholas Cipolla

Jordan Ynoa did exactly what you expect an ace to do in a big time game in October. He went out there and dominated for seven innings and led his team to victory.

Offensively, the Titans got on the board in the second with a sac fly to right field from Everett Gaver in the second inning. Besides that, we had a pitchers duel for 5 innings of play.

Ynoa was dominant from pitch one until the very last pitch. He only allowed 5 runners to reach base, and surrendered only one extra base hit to the Lumberjacks over 7 innings of work. He also added an inning ending pickoff in the fourth inning to keep the score at 1-0.

In the 6th inning, Jordan Meirowitz struck again. For the second time in this tournament, he ripped a 2 run double into left center, giving the Titans what seemed to be a commanding 3-0 lead late in the game.

One more run crossed the plate for the Titans when Danny Morccio came up with a runner on second and hit a grounder to shortstop. He was able to reach base via throwing error by the shortstop and allowed the runner from second to score.

After retiring the side in order in the 7th, Jordan Ynoa not only helped his team claim a late season tournament win, but he claimed individual honors by claiming the tournaments MVP award for his brilliant outing on the mound in the championship game.
