Titans Three Run 5th is the Difference in Victory Over Baseball Warehouse

by Nicholas Cipolla

The Long Island Titans did not want to lose this game, no matter how things looked after the first inning.

Before a big 5th inning, it looked like this would be a long and probably miserable fall afternoon on the baseball field.

Baseball Warehouse jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first when Jaxon Appleman crushed a 2-run home run over the double fence in center field, 305 feet away from home plate. In the bottom of the first, Kyle Anderson struck out two of the three batters he faced and his stuff looked electric.

After allowing the 2-run home run, Matt Cruz settled in and was able to keep his team in the game and held Baseball Warehouse off the base paths for the rest of his time out on the mound.

Alex Baden was finally able to get the first run in for the Titans in the third. After Jordan Ynoa walked and stole 2 bases, he scored when Baden hit a little dribbler that was perfectly placed between the pitcher and third basemen where he would be able to beat the throw to first base with no problem.

The Titans put some pressure on in the 5th inning and capitalized on it. Christian Apicella stepped up in a pinch hitting situation with the bases loaded with no one out in the inning. He fought off some tough pitches but he eventually walked, forcing in the tying run.

The very next batter, Jordan Meirowitz, hit a rocket into left center that everyone -Including this reporter- thought was a no doubt go ahead grand slam. Instead, the ball hit the top of the double fence in left center, which resulted in a double for Meirowitz. However, it allowed 2 runs to cross and it gave the Titans their first lead of the day, 4-2 over Baseball Warehouse.

After that double, both teams kept each other from scoring and the final score was 4-2 in favor of the Long Island Titans. They moved on to play in the Championship Game directly after the conclusion of this Semifinal, where they eventually won the Championship over the East Coast Lumberjacks.
