Queens Renegades Dominate Early in Win Over Jr Ducks

by Nick Cipolla

These kids from Queens can hit.

The renegades attacked early and that’s all they needed to do in order to get a win over the Long Island Jr Ducks.

The first batter of the game, Sal Romano, reached on a hit by a pitch. He stole second and then was knocked in by Joey LaSala on a single to left field. LaSala scored on a pickoff play where the ball went into the outfield and then was thrown out of play.

Dylan Donofrio got on base and made his way to third before scoring on a wild pitch, which was ball four to the batter to make it 3-0. A few battwes later, Niko Frantzeskakis knocked in two more runs to make it 5-0. They scored all five of those runs before an out was recorded in the top of the first inning.

The Renegades were able to score two more runs in the inning. One was knocked in by Jackson So when he singled to center field and the other run came around when Sal Romano stepped up for the second time in the inning and hit a RBI groundout to second base.

The Renegades only scored two more runs in this contest, both of them came in the second inning. Manny Ortega came up with a runner on third and hit a deep fly ball to left that was caught. However the runner from third tagged up and scored the eighth run. The ninth run was scored by Niko Frantzekakis who got his third RBI on a groundout to the pitcher.

The Renegades still were hitting the ball well, but couldn’t capitalize on any other scoring opportunities.

Pitching wise, Niko Davios and Sal Romano only allowed 2 hits over 5 innings. The only run that they allowed was on an RBI groundout by James Miserzerski in the 5th inning. The game ended a few pitches after Miserzerski knocked in the Ducks only run of the game.
